Update mods w/o deleting them first?

Sorry if I should know this considering how much I modded Skyrim, but back when I updated mods in Skyrim I could download the new version and then overwrite the old version of mods... it seems with FO4 that is not an option. I have to uninstall and delete each mod then install the new version.

I suspect I am missing something that would make updating mods a little easier.

You should follow the directions contained in the mod ReadMe. All of my mods, for example, can simply be overwritten with new versions. And in general that should be the case - you should simply be able to overwrite the mod with the new version of the ESP file and BA2 file(s).

Well unless the mod does it itself in which case the mod author would likely tell you so in the installation/update instructions then I don't think so. At least I've never seen it happen. Now if you want to install over the top of an existing mod with another install of the same file (same exact version) then it will do that and prompt you accordingly. But if the mod being installed is a newer version or update then you will have to uninstall the older version either before you install the updated version or after you install it.
