SSD or GTX 580

Recommended Posts

Hopes in dreams, Yes and i am still waiting for that 16 core bulldozer

I can though afford that amazing vid card, possible build in the near future if the sixth generation sucks

I mean comparing the two.I'm still waiting, although i do need a serious motherboard upgrade. Maybe 12gb of ddr3 at 2500mhz will do to go along with it, i will need that memory bandwidth if i ever do get that card lol.

I would though get that gtx590 instead, the price is good though, also the make is Good as well.

You could always rely on KingstonAlthought he draw back its only Sata 2, but for the price i think its worth it for your needs.

i already had one picked out for under $200, that was a 128gb. Crucial M4....it wasnt the cost, it was that i couldnt afford both a 570/580 AND an SSD, and since i could get an SSD at any time, i might as well save it for later and get a better GPU from the start.

the only reason i was gunna buy a SSD from the start was so i wouldnt have to redo my OS later to put it on a new drive, since idr know how to do that, and i dont wanna screw everything up.

Its not actually a good idea to use a ssd for the main OS, i would use the ssd as storage for gaming, the ssd would last longer.

Use that 500gb instead for the OS. this is ony if you do get that ssd. stick with the video card.

yea, that too. i dont NEED a SSD. so if i dont get it now, i might never get it (until they are cheap) and ill save money. i do however NEED a GPU, so i might as well get a good one.

and ive always heard to put your OS on an SSD..and your most used things

The Momentus is basicly a ssd, it would have almost the same performance, plus the storage. It would be wise to use it instead. thats what I'm doing. Edited by Thor.

ya. the more i think about it, i mean im getting a fast drive anyways. why spend $200+ on only gaining 5 seconds? just doesnt seem worth atm, for a drive a quarter of the side, twice the price. when you can start getting 500gb SSDs for ~$150-$200, then i think they will start to be worth it....but by then, they will prolly have 1tb+ hybrid drives for the same price or less

however, the one thing SSDs will always have over hybrid drives is the no moving parts thing. less heat, less energy. no defrag or anything. etc
