Weapons of Previous Games

Has anyone ever thought of bringing in weapons from the previous FO games such as the Automatic Rifle, 12.7mm Pistol, Service Rifle, etc under a single....erm...would download page be the right term? All being balanced functioning with eachother, leveled lists n' all?

Seen a number of things like the Chinese Assault Rifle and the R91 on Nexus but there's still quite the number of weapons to be brought back and would seem like an exciting prospect for them to be all in one huge pack.

Plus theres something special about that certain look they all have. All based on real weapons but not quite the same~..

The Mauser mod is basically the Chinese Pistol with its historically accurate name, it wasn't really made to be very unique looking in F3, just a Mauser with unfortunately crap stats (Never understood why they bothered putting another 10mm pistol in the game when it has worse stats than the one you get for free). Also there's a decent M1911 mod and a reskin for it to make it look more standard like it did in Honest Hearts.

What I'd love to see is the Fallout 1/2 energy weapons, Project Nevada added a bunch of them to New Vegas (The Wattz line of guns) and New Vegas had the "Plasma Caster" which was the classic Plasma Rifle. The Flamer Pistol would be neat to see too.

I think it was because FO3 had weapon condition stats, so your 10mm might break and force you to resort to the crappier Chinese version. That would have worked if the 10mm hadn't been SO commonplace...

It is illegal to port them so someone would have to recreate them all by hand basically. I'm sure we will see more in time though.

I very well could be wrong about this and if I am please correct me.

If you owned both of the games and therefore had a legal license to the files, couldn't you legally port some asset as long as you didn't distribute it (personal use only)?

In fact it seems to me that someone with enough interest and expertise could make and (legally?) distribute a program or script of some kind that would basically make such conversions for you, provided the program did NOT contain copyrighted material AND you had the license mentioned above.

Isn't it the same as taking licensed music files and putting them in a radio mod for personal use (which I'm almost certain IS legal)?

It's illegal to port them over to Fallout 4 but you can still get away with it anyways. There were tons of assault rifle weapon mods that were ported from Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to Fallout New Vegas a few years ago and nothing happened to the mod creator, just don't turn it into a business or anything like that lol.
