jim001
I am trying to reinstall New Vegas but it keeps trying to update steam, and is continually unable to connect to steam, this has been going on for 6 days, is there anyway to bypass the reuirement for steam with a retail copy of the game? micalov
By default yes, you do require Steam and anyway to bypass steam/DRM if one exists, could not be discussed here unfortunately.
bben46
All updates and patches come from steam. If you do not have have the updates, it may not work. And many mods need the patches to work. Your problem is with steam - you will need to contact them to get it fixed.
Bitdman
jim001 I think your doing something wrong. A install and the updating are two different things. If you are trying to re-install the game, make sure it is un-installed first or you'll have problems.Like bben46 said check the steam forums there's a ton of information there that can help.Steam is not a bad thing once you get familiar with it.
JimboUK
I would try reinstalling Steam itself, I had this issue after reinstalling Windows and a clean install of Steam (backing up the games first) was the only way I could get the thing to work.
