Mod activation in new/saved games

I have Nexus Mod Manager and a few mods for Fallout 4. They all seem to activate okay and work. My question is this, once I activate a mod, do I have to start a completely new FO4 game to see the mod or should it work on any of my saved games?

That depends on the mod. Of all the mods that I've used I have seen very few that required you to start a new game and they usually list that requirement in the installation description. There is a danger sometimes in removing a mod, however, as scripts and other data can get 'baked' into your saved game and compromise that. In those cases you may not be aware that anything is wrong until you remove the mod and find that your character won't load anymore. Otherwise you should be 99% safe installing your mod and going on adventuring.
