bevilex
Hi guys, I have Oblivion on Steam, fully modded, and the mod manager I use is Wrye Bash. I would like to have 2 Oblivion installations in order to test different mods combination. What is the best way to do that ? Can I have 2 oblivion folders in the Steam folder (like Oblivion and Oblivion_bak depending on the one I play) with inside each of them 1 Wrye Bash installation and 1 oblivion mods folder (used for the 2 Wrye Bash) ?Do you think this will work correctly ? I read that I could use Mod Organizer , but I don't want to learn how to use a new mod manager. So I ask you if I can do that with WB for Oblivion bought on Steam. Thanks ^^
DrakeTheDragon
Do you really want 2 installations of the game or will 2 different sets of installed mods work as well? I'm asking because Wrye Bash very well has a profiling feature for mod lists based on savegames as well, so you can have savegames where you play with one list of mods and other savegames where you play with a completely different list and cleanly switch them back and forth at any time. There is means to install and use 2 different game installations as well, of course, I'm just wondering whether it's needed for what you aim for or not. bevilex
In fact what I want is to start from scratch the mods installation process, in order to try a different mod list (different overhauls, etc), while keeping my current fully modded Oblivion. Moreover, I want to start again in order to build something very clean, and test it rigorously. Because my current setup has some little imperfections and I can't find why because of the number of mods I installed, and the installation was not yesterday ^^ I also have a back up of the complete Vanilla Oblivion. That is why I think about that. Thanks for telling me about the profiling option. Currently I don't know a lot about profiling. And I don't know very well which option I should use, and what are the advantages and drawbacks of both. But I think having 2 installations can be more interesting for me, because with the profiling feature I may have the same obscure problems in my 2 profiles. Thanks edit: and also space is not a problem for me, I have enough space to have 2 fully modded Oblivion folders in my drive Edited June 3, 2016 by bevilex
