Really weird companion (Jericho) problem...

Hi,

basically I have Jericho with me as a companion, and whenever he fires his gun he seems to lose health... when he runs out he just goes unconcious and doesn't wake up...

I've recently added Fallout 3 Wanderer's edition, as well as the overhaul kit which introduced different weapons as replacers...

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2761 - FWE

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15578 = FWE overhaul

Now there's two problems really...

1) The stupid overhaul gave Jericho a different weapon but the wrong ammo, so now all he uses is his crappy nail-board... when I uninstalled the mod, he was still missing his chinese assault rifle. I remedied this by giving him a chinese assault rifle from the Anchorage sim via console command along with about...10k or so 556 rounds so that he doesn't run out (he never seemed to run out of his special ammo for his special rifle, but now he does ¬.¬ Is there any way that I can get the original Jericho back?

2) The issue I mentioned above. about him seemingly shooting himself in the foot (shooting his gun and just causing damage to himself) I have the FWE set to vanilla mode - I use the controller and only really like the alternate start mode, so don't really want rid of FWE, although I will uninstall it if it will sort this out (had to get rid of RH Ironsights for it...grrr)

Thanks.

Dubes don't know how to do it. NPC an player weapons need to be seperated, one balance setting on one an another on the other. You see this in the vanilla game where the companion weapons are all seperated from the rest of the game's weapons. The rest of it was done with leveled lists, 10mmPistolWithAmmo this gives a NPC a 10mm an 10mm ammo but at different levels the condition of the weapon gets better, an so the damage gets higher the more the player levels up. This kind of development requires a modder to think or to actually have a brain. You won't see much of that.

For you as a user to edit it, there is only a few things you need to know. First that Jericho is located in the Non Player Characters Section. Use FO3 edit, load up the entire load order, then go to Fallout.esm at the top, open the +, find the + for Non Player Characters an open that one. Form ID, Editor ID, Name. The Name one is the in-game name, click on the top header of that column, this will put it A-Z or Z-A. Now you can scroll down to Jericho click it an it will display in the right window. Notice how many mods are changing Jericho, the one furthest to the right wins. Right click the top of the Jericho entry for Fallout.esm, where it says Fallout.esm or in the left window, you get the option to copy as override into, pick that, pick new file.

The override file you created is just like a mod, only it loads at the end, hence why it's a override. I tend to name them based of what they do. Override-NPC.esp then I know I can put other types of NPC overrides in there. You don't have to but it keeps them seperated into groups rather than a big huge mess in one file. Now there were packages you overrided that your mods added to Jericho maybe or other content. Packages are the AI an the NPC scans them in the order top to bottom which they are place in the entry, so the order is important. This override can use any content that loads before it if it uses that mod as a master. This is how merge patch an bashed patch work. So long as it's used as a master than any content inside it can be used. So anything you wanted to add from the privious mods that didn't break Jericho you could add here so long as that mod is used as a master. The rest of the NPC settings are simple, GECK Main Page
