Sprouts
Is the world in Skyrim persistent? For instance, let's say I have decided to use my axe to cut down a tree (is this possible?) and come back to that location at a later date, will that tree still be there? chikawowwow
Well, Dragons can apparently scar the landscape and it seems their bones linger on. However I very much doubt you can cut down trees altogether. You will have persistency in that if you kill an NPC, they will remain dead.
Adrius2
There are no destructible enviroments as far as I know, so no. Areas can indeed be temporary altered, like flames catching onto wood and dragons making large marks as they crash and so on, but those are temporary effects, and I'm dead sure those will have disappeared once you revisit the area. Igetbabes
its been confirmed that certain buildings can be destroyed from dragon attacks and that they leave marks from their fire breath and from crashing into the ground

chikawowwow
Adrius I'm sure is in the info thread. Edit: It's in the 'Environment' section.

jedimembrain
dead bodies will most likely stick around for a few days like in oblivion but there is no tree chopping .. and Ive never heard dragons can distroy certain houses outside of early rumors. Adrius2
Oh, yeah you're right. I'm guessing those certain buildings are destroyed as part of a quest, like in earlier bethesda games (Fallout 3 Megaton for instance).
Jakeschulz
I dont think anything would last forever, except something from a very significant quest perhaps, like a town detroyed or whatever. and i dont think dragon skeletons will last forever, as you should be killing about 60 dragons atleast so it would be quite a junkyard of bones. (20 shouts, each with 3 words= 60 souls/dragons)
