CTDs and infinite loading screens--help!

Hello folks!

 

I finally pushed my load order past the breaking point and had to do a full reinstall. Not quite sure what broke things and I'm offering a bounty on the head of this technical problem of a free steam gift game.

 

Anyhow, I've got everything set back up and working but my performance is now terrible using the same mods as before.

 

I'm using the FNV4G.exe and NVSE and stutter remover along with the enhanced shaders. When I use the 4gb exe, the game runs like s***. When I don't use it it runs slightly better but still not how it used to. I vaguely remember having this problem before but eventually finding a workaround that let me use all three of these with great performance. Why would the 4gb exe be causing slowdown? I'm using an ATI card if that matters. I just can't for the life of me remember what steps I took that finally got the 4gb exe working fast. Any ideas?

 

Not sure this matters but when I specify the custom launch exe, the launch button changes from "Launch NVSE" to "Launch New Vegas."

 

I'm vaguely remembering using a version of FNV4GB_NVSE that wasn't from from the NVSE homepage and that fixed things but I may be pulling that out of my ass. Goddammit, I should never have changed anything. I finally had things working more or less how I wanted them with over 120 mods working side by side without crashing or performance problems and a bunch of custom editing and compatibility patching on my end to get things to play nicely together.

 

Then I update IWS and everything dies, I reinstall, and now my game is unplayable. I flew too close to the sun .

Whoever can figure this out gets a free steam game. My e-mail is the (dot) podger (at) gmail.com if you want to work over IM or something. The issues: Lots of random CTDs, frequent infinite loading screens, and the 4GB NVSE exe makes the game unplayably slow and I'm pretty sure the CTDs are due to the large textures requiring more than 2gb but I may be wrong.

Not sure how to really fix your problem but why dont you try the 3gb FNV enabler if your having problems with the 4gb enabler?

 

Also ASEF is not needed since the latest patch. Also have you tried using Wrye flash and make a bash patch? It will combine some of those mods in your load order, lessing your LO number.

I know ASEF isn't needed anymore, but there's a mod with a dependency on it, I forget which one.

 

I haven't ever used Wrye Flash, TBH I haven't the faintest idea how to use it.

Anyone got a good introduction?

Regarding CTDs:

If you updated to ptch 1.4, save games which has been created with prior game versions may cause frquent crashes. In that case I'd just try to start a new game.

No. Couriers Stash is just that only one.esm. All 4 have been known to cause problems.And its been explained again and again and again and you see it all the time.

 

We had a thread going explaining common causes of crashing but never got stickied like it should have.

 

Only ways to get all 4 preorder packs is to pirate or buy 4 copies of FNV.

I have pretty much the same problem like you podger, but i could resolve at least the frequent thing about it when i put the error correction esps pretty much first in my load order. The normal one i placed right at the top and the fook one i placed pretty much at the end, also i made a merged patch with my load order and put that at the end of it.

This is wrong. Buying the Courier's Stash just gives you all 4 pre-order packs. It does not combine them into one.

 

Using all four of them does not actually cause any issues, but used to be a clear indication of a pirated game before they put them up for sale as the Courier's Stash on Steam.
