minngarm
Yea I can see that, but even if you hit it from the front you do not need to go in just hold the paths out. Then they starve out or have to launch a counter assault, which red rock is a very poor position for that. It becomes basic siege warfare, they are cut off from food and water once they give the armory.
ModelV
Well by retreat from the armory i meant more on the lines of bring all the guns and supplies from their into Red Rock. Large armies move quite slowly. The Khans also have 2 other advantages those being a large amount of explosives(Why cant we be friends?) and combat chems. In any event attacking the khans would lead to victory but still with great lose no matter what you do.
marharth
I don't think anyone would expect the great khans to use strategy, so if they did they might be able to win quite a few battles.
minngarm
Lore wise are they not cavalry? Do they not follow their namesakes and do hit and run raids? If so they would know better than to hold up in the canyon, and would move out soon as the advance scouts reported forces closing in. I do wish they would consult with military liasons before commiting to a certain part of storyline like that. They could have done the positioning so much better.
