I'm sorry that this isn't in the approved post, but it's disappeared from the front pages and nobody answers anything on it anymore. Sorry if this needs to be locked... :(

I just bought a Galaxy GeForce 460 gtx, with 768MB VRAM. It's the GC version (factory overclocked). Here are the specs:

VRAM: 768MB

GPU clock: 700Mhz

Processor Clock: 1400Mhz

Memory Clock: 1848Mhz

Memory Interface: 192 bit

It's supposed to run Bad Company 2 well on high settings, as a comparison.

How well (guesstimation) do you think it will run Skyrim?

Is it more powerful than a PS3 or 360's graphics processor?

If you have over a 200 series you will run it just fine... (you can probably just google search the recomended graphics card its all over the interwebs and have compared it to yours...)

anyways what you have is much better, no more like extremely better than anything the 360 has

over 200? .. the series doesn't matter to much .. but after 200 every series basicly remains the same aside from shader and DX11 .. the 2oo is DX9 which is fine .. if it was a 260 I would say you could run it with no problems assuming your CPU and RAM are good enough .. a 460 is even better .. a little faster than the 260 plus it has DX11 .. I'm running on the 550 ti and it plays every video game at max graphics with no problems.

I assumed it'd be something like this, but I'm happy to have somewhat of a confirmation. The 550 is quite a bit better though... but it should be fine. Thanks for the answers. It's nice to hear that I still ended up getting something better than a 'modern' console, I was a bit worried that I spent $130 on a throwaway card.

wanna trade? :P lol.. the 460 is better than the 550 by a bit .. and about the same price (or was when I got my 550 back in jan) .. The only reason I didn't get a 460 instead of my 550 was because the 460 required a bigger PSU and I didn't have the money.. so yea .. yours is a bit better.

Edit: on a side note the 550 is better for overclocking since it runs cooler and uses less power .. but I don't OC so bleh .. whatever

That is a fairly good video card, it may be limited by the amount of VRAM at higher resolutions (1080p or above). I don't think that Skyrim is going to require huge amounts of VRAM,, at least until the modders come out with high-resolution texture packs. If you play at 1600 x 1050 or less you should be able to play the game at high or better settings... provided the rest of your computer is up to snuff.

As for whether or not it's better than a Xbox360 or PS3 it's far far far better. Both of those consoles are so far behind current PC technology that it's sad rather than funny. :/

Better than the 550 ti?

:o Youtube people lied to me...

Plus, I play at 1440x900 resolution (because it's my monitor's native pixel count), so yay! I doubt I'll have problems with a lack of VRAM! I promise, this is the last bump. I'll let the official thread take over. It just seemed odd to not respond to such helpful information.
