Memory Leak - Solutions?

Hi,

I have tried about everything to have this issue resolved. I have put many hours to figuring this out and have even looked for memory leak fixes for Oblivion and Fallout 3 to see if any of them works. I DONT understand why with a top-end PC I have so many issues with this particular game only. Firstly I had incessant Crashes to Desktops (CTD's) but once I fixed that I still have the memory leak.

With 4xAA, 8xAF, 1920x1080, vSync off, HDR on, NMC's large texture pack and everything else set to Ultra, I average 100-120fps on my 24" 60hz monitor..... for the first 10-15mins. Here are my computer specs;

Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155)

Corsair 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance

Asus Directcu II GTX 580 NVIDIA Graphics Card (1536MB,PCI-E 2.0, GDDR5)

60Gb OCZ Agility 3 SSD Read 525MB s Write 475MB s

Samsung F3 HD103SJ 1TB internal Hard Drive SATAII 32MB Cache 7200RPM – OEM

Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P Z68 Motherboard

Coolermaster HAF 922 Mid Tower Chassis

Corsair TX Series, 850 Watt GOLD

Genuine Windows 7 Home Edition x64

As you can see my computer vastly exceeds New Vegas's recommended pc specifications. I have all four DLC's but not any pre-order items and the only mods I use are Arwen's Realism Tweaks, Project Nevada-Core and a couple of others which I will mention below. So I don't have 100's of mods hampering my system. I can play Witcher 2, Rage, Dead Space 2, Anon 1404 and Crysis 2 with all 60fps+ on their max settings and I have no memory leak problem with these games.

What happens is that when I first load the game up then no matter where I am I will average 100-120 fps, good times, but within 10-15mins it drops down to about 60. 60 is not bad but it's very inconsistent and keeps leaping from 60-100 and then 5 mins later I will be stuck around 40fps and whenever enemies or NPC's are on the screen my fps will plummet to 10-20, even sometimes less than 10

I have tried all these fixes and none of them have fixed the memory leak issues;

1) tried vsync on and off

2) increasing/decreasing AA, AF, Shadows, LOD, DOF with New Vegas Configurator or the normal launcher - makes no difference either way.

3) Inserted d3d9.dll into the main installation directory (this increased performance and resolved the constant crashes but still had memory leak)

4) New Vegas Stutter Remover mod

5) Better Game Performance v4 mod

6) Purge Cell Buffer mod

7) I have tried the 3GB and 4GB FNV enabler to increase RAM usage but RAM tends to sit less than 2GB all the time anyway so it's a waste of time.

8) edited fallout.ini and put busethreadedAI to 1 and inumhwthreads to 2 but still didn't help

9) I have the latest 285.38 nvidia drivers.

10) I've used Driver Genius and updated over 20 drivers and used Windows Update and have everything I can possibly download and installed them all

11) Set the Nvidia Control Panel to ''Prefer Maximum Performance" and set my computer to "High Performance" under Power Management Options

12) My computer is not overclocked so I will not be having excessive heat issues

13) Defragging HDD

14) Setting FalloutNV.exe and FalloutNVLauncher to 'Run as Administrator' and have tried setting them as compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Vista.

15) Turned off Transparency Multisampling as I've heard they were not being purged from system but didn't help

15) Uninstalled GamerOSD and SmartDoctor

16) Unloaded Kaspersky Internet Security

17) Used Gamebooster

I may have done other things but these are the only things I can remember. I don't know what to do and I find it unacceptable to exit and enter the game every 15-20mins to resolve this problem. I don't know how to post my dxdiag so will look into it.

I have heard that Fallout New Vegas is incompatible with Windows 7 64 but others with the same OS have no problem so what's wrong with my computer that it will play every other top game in the world beautifully except New Vegas!!

Does ANYONE have a similar problem to myself and do they have any solutions?

Thanks for your time.

I have Fallout the retail version, not steam.

I have it installed at D:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout New Vegas

Curious, how would installing it somewhere else make a difference? I'm not really that computer savvy.

EDIT by LHammonds: Yep, I agree. You are not computer savvy. If you were, you would know that pirated game are....well, you just described it. I have a retail version of New Vegas too...and it won't install without Steam or outside Steams program folder. Bye bye ya filthy pirate.
