I´m confused, the game is 32-bit only and it needs 4 GB RAM?I mean 32 bit only supports 3.5 RAM so how is skyrim use more than what the computer can give?

It's just that crazy freaking awesome?

How will that work exactly? Since 32-bit only recognizes like 3.2 - 3.5GB. How can the game be a 32-bit game and recommend 4GB? It just makes no sense whatsoever.

Maybe it was just a typo or something?

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

  • OS: Win XP/7/Vista (32 or 64 bit)
  • CPU: Dual Core
  • RAM: 2GB
  • GPU: DX9c video card w/ 512MB RAM
  • Internet Access for Steam activation

Recommended Hardware Requirements:

  • OS: Win XP/7
  • CPU: Quad-Core Intel/AMD CPU
  • RAM: 4GB
  • GPU: DX9 vid card w/ 1 GB. GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
  • Internet Access for Steam activation

I found this also. Might help clear things up.

Nope. Can't be. They've said plenty of times the game will be 34-bit. And they've already corrected the requirements once. I highly doubt they made 2 mistakes.

But seriously, what do you guys think? Will the game run smooth with 3.5GB?

They recommend 4 GB physical RAM.

You can't really construct a PC with 3.2 or 3.5.

RAM sticks come in 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB. There's no way that you could build a computer with 3.2GB of RAM because the sticks don't come in those intervals.

I think they recommend the 4GB because they are considering how much Windows uses. Windows XP uses about 1GB just to run, Vista/7 about 1.5GB. Most games only use about 2.5GB to play, so it's best to have 4GB. It should run fine on 32 bit systems with 3.2GB...but I would suggest getting 64bit OS...that little RAM you lose does make a bit of a difference.

Oh thanks! I was actually considering buying like 2 GB of RAM and upgrading to 64 bit, just to be on the + side, lol.

The RAM comes in 512 MB, 1 GB, 2GB, 4 GB planks nowadays, usually you need to insert pairs (trios for some i7's) of identical planks.

So you can have 1, 2, 3, 4 GB RAM physically, not something inbetween.

And if someone has an older PC with 3.5 GB, that would really make me laugh, there's no good point for such a config...

No problem :) Yeah, RAM is super cheap now. This RAM (2x2GB DDR3 1600) I got for Christmas last year for $90 is down to like $35 :verymad: Sometimes I hate technology lol.

I was just looking at The Witcher 2's recommended specs. They are the same as Skyrim's. So if your able to play The Witcher 2 at decent frame rates, Skyrim will run fine  I surpass the recommended specs for TW2 and it runs very well. Skyrim will be a piece of cake...that is if it's just as optimized...which I doubt. TW2 isn't a console port...

If we put it this way. I have all the requirements for recommended on Skyrim. I have the 4GB of RAM and all, but I still have 32 bit system. That's the only concern.

I don't really believe in specs either. I simply wanted the spec so I can have a ballpark estimate if I need a new video card or not. Battlefield 3's recommended specs for the video card is a GTX 560 or higher. I can run the game on ultra witha 465......
