Bluechase
Hi all, I'm about to buy an Xbox for no other reason than to play Skyrim on it until I can afford a really good PC. I have never owned an Xbox before and have no idea whether there are any different types at all. My question is, does it matter which one I buy? Sorry if this is a silly question, I just want to make sure that Skyrim runs on what I buy. Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks a lot, B
gahnzz
Get one of the new slims that have 120gb hard drive internal as a minimum. While you will probably never fill it, it's good to have that room for demos, videos, etc from Xbox Live. I also wouldn't bother with a Xbox Live Gold Membership unless you are a real fan of multiplayer games. I was Silver for years and there is no real downside to Silver if you are only interested in single-player games and downloads. If you are looking to stream from Netflix, et al. you will need a Gold Membership. Just my $.02 EDIT: If you are only going to be buying it for Skyrim truly - really any 360 will work, even the older systems used with the 8gb hard drive. My experience is, however, that you will outgrow that pretty quick if you venture into the Xbox Marketplace at all. Just sayin'
elderiii
If you already have a PC and don't mind doing the upgrades yourself you may be able to buy new parts for your PC and play Skyrim on it, for both cheaper than an XBOX and better visual quality as well. Not to mention the mods, which are the single best part about the Elder Scrolls series. Once again, this depends on 2 things: How old your current PC is... and are you capable of doing the upgrading yourself? Food for thought, that is all. I don't have any intention of demeaning consoles or anything like that. :)
Bluechase
Thanks, I really am buying it solely for playing Skyrim. I need a few months to save up for a good PC and I'm very interested in modding Skyrim so that's the main goal but there is no way I'm going to wait until then without playing the game. Hence the decision to buy an xbox just to tide me over :) Edited to add: I only have an oldish laptop, even Oblivion struggled on it so upgrading is not an option. I'm more than happy to invest in a new, high spec desktop once I've got the money together. Edited October 26, 2011 by Bluechase
