Problem with Horse Armor

I completed the quest for the mod Lost Paladins of the Divine which gave me a free white horse. However, my Prior Maborel horse is still alive and kicking and is hanging out at the ruins where I left him.

 

I have tried setting the new white horse as "IsOwner" and it says my character's name is the owner.

 

However, when I go to the stables at the Imperial City to outfit my horse with the Steel Armor the message says "You must own a horse in order to equip it with horse armor."

 

When I check my horse ownership in the stats it says I own 0 horses!

 

 

What is the console command to make me own a horse? Also I tried the IsOwner command already and it doesn't work, so what other commands can I use to fix this problem?

The problem is that unique horses added through mods often cannot be armored because of the way Oblivion implements horse armor. Your horse isn't just given some armor and renamed, it's actually replaced with an entirely different horse - check the CS loading Oblivion.esm and DLCHorseArmor.esp and you'll see the problem. You'll have to find a mod that allows you to armor the horse, or make one yourself.

Newby question, where do you get the armor for the horses, I have not found any yet, the orc in Emperial city is dead, killed by someone that did not like her eating the horses.

The horse armor is a plugin that you purchase from the Bethesda store. Just check the website and you should be able to find it.

 

Thanks for clearing up the horse armor issue, I'll just stick with Shadowmere.

Thanks, I was afraid I was missing something, I have seen the horse armour for the game on sale.
