Hi I just started playing Oblivion (actually I just ordered it and have haven't played it yet lol) and I have ban looking through all the mods on the sit here, picking out all the ones I want. But as I was downloading one I started wondering Is there a limit for mods I can use at a time? if so how many?

Sorry if this is a noobsh question but I have never played a 3D RPG like this (only have ever played free 3D MMORPGs) and have vary limited knowledge of technical things.

PS. sorry for any spelling mistakes, its just not my strong point.

The limit for active mods is 256 total (00 through FF Hex) -- that includes 1 spot for the save game info and 1 for the Oblivion.esm leaving 254 available --- though this limit can be gotten around by combining\merging mods and does not count replacers that do not use an .esp or .esm file Edited by JDFan

Additionally, I think there is a 400 file limit which includes .bsa files and inactive .esps (?) hence the ghosting option in Wrye Bash. Few people would approach this limit though.

edit. From this site:

All installed plugins and BSAs count toward another limit, a total somewhere between 300 and somewhere over 400, varying based upon unknown factors. Keep your data folder and your load order clean of unnecessary and unused mod files.

Thanks for the quick answer, so 254? I'll need to remember that limit....good thing I only have like 10 so far i want but then again as many mods as this sit has it might not take long to get all 254 lol.
