New .nif causing CTD?

Desperation post, folks. Hoping y'all can help nail this issue before I end up putting a hole in something I can't afford to repair/replace. Sorry in advance if this seems rambly or disjointed - its late, I'm burned out, and the sleeping pills just kicked in, but if I don't get this up now I probably won't at all.

For the past couple days, I've been working with the rest of the Modern Firearms team to get the mod clean and back up. We've made a good bit of progress, but along the way we ran into a literally game-killing bug with one of the guns. Specifically, since we've had to replace the DSR-1 parts (we're using the DSR50 parts until we can source replacements), that gun -always- causes a CTD when the game tries to spawn it in. Render preview, in the hands of an NPC, or just laying on the ground, if its there the game dies.

The good news is, we think we figured out the problem - our replacement barrel .nif(s) are somehow broken. I've tried remaking them five or six times now, but nothing I do works. What I've been trying to do is use part of a different model (specifically the gas tube/piston guide off one of the AK barrel models) to make a new fluted barrel. I've followed MikeMoore's tutorial video (this one, up to around the 5:00 mark:

) exactly, and I have no idea what I could be doing wrong.

I start out by using Outfit Studio to tear down the AK barrel .nif until all I have left is the one part I want, then I extend that part along the Y axis to get it long enough to function as a full-length barrel. Export as .nif to the DSR meshes folder, open that .nif and the one I want to replace (another crew member's previous attempt at making a fluted barrel) in NifSkope (running the latest version, btw), then follow Mike's tutorial. No matter what I do, my new .nif still isn't fixing the issue, even though I know I'm doing everything right.

I just started modding with outfitstudio and nifscope and had CTD as well.

I am currently working on add-ons for this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14532/?

The author dinozaurz gave me the hint to delete any objects/branches with collision (in nifscope) and to copy an existing collision nif-node from an exiting nif.

Worked for me, next step is to understand how it works :)

Dear Cartman,

thanks to you for your reply! We worked over a week on that problem and if it helps your the savior of the day.

Also manymanymany thanks to dinozaurz, if his hint will help us solve that problem. As you could read in the post of Whiskey, we're going nuts on that problem.

So thanks again!

Cartman, if that works, you're a f***ing God-send. I'll give that a shot later, busy with other stuff right now, but here's hoping that's the ticket.

Edit 2: I'm a moron, spelled the new .nif name wrong. Cartman, dude, we f*#@ing owe you! It f*#@ing works!
