I like the whole wander around premise of the game better than reading a strat guide, however, I have a free strategy guide from gamestop and thats the one Im getting, I mean sure UESP is a right click away, but anything I can do to help Bethesda the better :)

What do you mean Odai? How did you get a free strategy guide from GameStop?

Powerup reward points... one of my prizes I can, and will get is a $20 off a strategy guide. So I will pay ~6 dollars.

Ah, I haven't really done that, no points. :/ Oh well, but good for you for getting such a sweet deal.

I never went and never will go for strategy guides for TES games.

It butchers the wonders of discovery :)

I prefer to search every corner of the map by myself (singing "Anywhere I Roam". Constantly.)

Unless I get it for free I ain't getting it.

So not worth the price.

As for strategy guides in themselves... I find them useful in cases where I want a perfect playthrough. I extensively used one for The Witcher 1 when preparing a save game for the Witcher 2's import function. It's a case where I want to use it all the time, which makes alt+tabbing to the internet kinda irritiating in comparison.

Other than that I find them kind of redundant. UESP helps me with all small questions I might have.

I wish there was just an index of items listed that I should seek out. For instance, maybe I hear the innkeeper at the local brothel whisper something about an enchanted weapon only found in the deepest cave on the highest mountain in the land furthest away. You know, something easy to say "hey - there's something cool out there! Go find it!". I'm iffy on the guide.
