demongoat
eh.. it is cool they add the option, but i've yet to see any games do anything more than make it a mini-game to do once then ignore.looking at you fable!the only games i've seen do it right are games built around the concept of social interaction not rpgs, ie:sims. i'll do what i did in fable, do it once to see it, then sacrifice my spouse to the dark gods! Horgr
Its nice to have something to do outside of battle and exploration. Reading an in game book, decorating your house, listening to npc's to converse, going to a pub and getting a drink, then going home to your wife, kissing her hello...listening to her nag about how you never bring her flowers anymore...and you try to explain how you turned them into a cool potion for her that makes her walk on water...and she says that she likes flowers better...and you say "its the thought that counts"....and she says "if only that were true in the bedroom"...and then you take out your axe...and next thing you know, half the town is dead and your running through the mountains naked on a skooma trip, killing every argonian you see because you think they are dragons. you know what... maybe they should just remove marriage from Skyrim. wilebill
Just why bother unless there is something as yet unrevealed. Optional is good. There for those who want it.

PrincessOfFlorin
If marriage were like in Fable, no thanks. If I can marry a big, strong, axe swinging Nord to protect me while I incinerate our enemies? I can get behind that.
RejectedCamel
Yuh, on one hand, marriage will be interesting, especially because of the same-sex marriage being an option. I'm a 'gaymer' myself, so I really appreciate that. Unfortunately though, knowing Bethesda, NPC interactions will be rather awkward and artificial. But I guess it's better than nothing. Vindekarr
The only way I can see myself using this system is to hideously manipulate AIs. I felt no connection to anyone in Oblivion, they were just meat puppets that had blood in them, and I ran a blood extraction and reclaimation service, making them all clients. I mean realy, Oblivion NPCs looked ridiculous, moved like broken transformer toys, all had the same voice, and all spouted the same canned dialogue. You may aswell marry a toy robot. Nebrule
the only way i might entertain this is after I've discovered, collected and completed every aspect of the game including a few dozen mods. for example, if this feature were in oblivion, my character would just now be ready to settle down Edited November 9, 2011 by Nebrule
nolgroth
Not interested in this feature, but don't mind that it is there.
James009
I think systems like this could help expand the Elder Scrolls series in a good way. Like everyone's said, it's OPTIONAL; ignore it if you don't want it, play with it if you do. Personally, if it is implemented well (and better then Fable) then I'll use it, if it's stupid, I'll ignore it. Regardless, I like the idea of adding in friends and more-then-friends into the game, it adds a little more realism and immersion which wasn't previously there. Maybe now we'll start to care about some of the random NPC's wondering around and not just think of them a static cannon fodder.
