mod compilations

I've been using a lot of armor and accessory mods for various appearance options for myself, companions, and generic NPCs. Upwards of some 40+ mods with different authors. Some of them I've already mailed on here to ask for permission to include in mods I've thought about uploading, some with more than one acredited member I have not gotten full replies from as yet.

So my question is, What is the exact ruling on no replies to requests to use mods in a upcoming to be uploaded mod? Am I not allowed to do it at all If I never recieve a reply on here? Or is there a timeframe for it? Can I upload the mod but referance to theirs? What if I put together a compilation of armors and accessories with such no replies and note my sources, is that acceptable?

Here it is in a nutshell.

If you do not have explicit permission for all involved in the compilation do not upload it here. Your file will be removed and your account will be forfeit.

No reply, then you have no permission.

Makes sense, and sounds fair, but it does suck as most every mod I've been waiting to upload beyond the updates for my current ones, requires permissions from more than one person for other content, and it feels like a run of bad luck that I never get replies from the other half. Assuming that if I use a mod say "fictional awesome hat of awesomeness ported from FO3" which is done by cucumber23 who had gotten permission from the original mods author on FO3 Sammich29. Would permission from Cucumber23 be sufficent or does the permission from the plausably inactive Sammich29 still need to be obtained?

The few that have been tried didn't last long - too much work, too many problems, too many irate mod authors.

Every mod that is included must have the author's permission to be included. And many (most) will not give the permission to have their work included in a compilation as they don't get any credit or recognition for their work - sombody else (the compiler) gets credit. How would you like to spend months of your time on a project then see someone else get all the credit? >:(

One of the big problems with compilations is if a single mod has a bug then it can crash the compilation. Then if that one bug in one mod is fixed, the compilation must be redone to include the fixed mod. Same problem when someone updates or adds to a mod. You are stuck with the original until the compilation maker gets around to redoing the compilation to include the updates.

Now we get into what if you don't like one (or more) of the mods in the compilation - you are stuck with them. And what if you want to add a mod that is incompatible with one of the mods in the compilation - again SOL.

People have tried posting stable load orders - which is similar but with each mod installed separately. It was found that just because it worked on one system, it may not give the same results on another.

Then, if it takes 7 or 8 minutes to download just one large mod, how long is it going to take to download 100 or more mods of all sizes? And if just one mod is corrupted during the DL, or if the DL is interrupted - You will have to start over.

A compilation would have to be either a one shot - take it or leave it, or a high maintenance continuous thing. With many requests to add certain mods or remove others. Authors giving and retracting permission, mods being changed or debugged. Probably at least one updated release a week would be needed to keep up. With another several hours spent waiting for it to download.
