Any Pro tips for a beginner?

Anyone got pro-tips to help better my fallout life? Such as, where I might store my extra supplies to keep my weight down? In Fallout 3, near the beginning I was gifted a house in Megaton. Looking for something simmilar to this, or should I grab a mod which grants me a safehouse? I'm relatively new to Fallout series. Played a bit of Fallout 3, got just past saving my dad from the other virtual vault and haven't played since.

I'm using FOMM (Fall Out Mod Manager)

Current mods for me are

Perk Every Level - Does just that.

More Perks - Adds more perks to the game

Primary Needs HUD - Shows RAD, THirst, etc... in my HUD, though currently it doesn't seem to work.

MTUI - Various tweaks that make gaming easier on my 47" TV

NV Error Corrections - Reduce CTD

Project Nevada

Decided on getting afterschool special as recommended by a friend.

Was looking at these possibly too

Use the robot's house to store your stuff. Only pick up weapons that have a high value. Repair them before selling to make more money. Have a high repair skill for this very reason. Only carry what you need. Be brutal as to what you actually need. Carry weapons that can be used in more than one role to cut down on weight.

If you're going hardcore, get Bottle That Water.

Improve repairing with Logical Repait Kits to make repairing weapons more, well, logical.

Charisma is a stat dump (as in it works fine with a score of 1) that lets you get more points in other, far more useful stats.

That's about it for now...

When using perk every level make sure to pick non-vanilla perks on the odd levels. Perk every level is surprisingly more game balance ruining then youd think especially with all the DLCs.

Have all the DLCs. The DLCs contain lots of goodies that makes life easier in the mojave even beforing entering the DLC area in most cases. Obviously GRA and CS have instant effects.

Its recommended you have proper skill levels before entering certain DLCs. Cant give you a list but just make sure the skills your good at are at say 75. Unless your playing honest hearts cause other then the beginning skills dont matter.

Get your class ammo perk( Vigilant recycler for energy weapons Hand Loader for guns) as soon as possible. They both let you cut down on ammo wait(some more then others) and let you do more damage.

Choose your healing skill based on whether hardcore setting is on or not. Obviously choose survival if its on.

VATS sucks.

New Vegas brought something back from the earlier Fallout games that wasnt in Fallout 3: Gameplay progression control through the use of mobs. That is to say going straight to New Vegas from goodsprings by normal means results in attacks by cazadores, deathclaws, and fiends. This does not mean your stuck going in the linear path of the game. If your observant, quick, and careful you can easily go straight to New Vegas if you want. You just need the right skill(Your skills not stats) or path. Ive been able to go straight to New Vegas from goodsprings fighting nothing but bark scorps and a few centaurs.
