eckhardtsalchow
I loved fallout 4 from the beginning but I was disappointed that they added a cannon but not an actual musket an I would really love to see a musket being made lead shot and all

zickeli7
They are actually in the game, in Concord, the Museum where Preston "Another settlement" is hiding. The mannequins have ye old muskets, and maybe they are not props. The true motivation behind not having a ballistic version musket is that it would be useless. The bolt pipe weapons would be more powerful and accurate, and the loading time would be horrid. I would love to see a blunderbuss type pipe shotgun, with a wide spread and a mule kick for damage. eckhardtsalchow
But , but musket i need it for ....... REASONS, beyond that it would still be pretty nice to have even if the pipe rifles are present i mean all of the fallout games so far had some ind of sub-theme to them (well at least since Bethesda took over) like New Vegas was more cowboy-esque and with fallout 3 it was a more ramshackle affair but fallout 4 has this thing with the 18th century and a minuteman type of thing so why no muskets i'm not saying its bad because no muskets i'm saying it feels incomplete to ME without muskets...... and some blunderbuss upgrades Edited June 11, 2016 by eckhardtsalchow

tartarsauce2
musket model could theoretically use broadsider reload animation if someone made a model :pwasteland arsenal's creator made a .50 express which is a one shot then reload .50 cal rifle for early game (so that .50 cal is usable earlier)
Mythos214
The only way I could see a musket being a viable weapon (if we are going for some degree of balance) is if it had bad accuracy at mid to long ranges, but did so much damage that it was capable of killing most enemies in one shot, the damage could be offset by a slow reload time. BUT a musket would also need a set of custom animations in order to really look convincing (using the Broadsider animation wouldn't be a bad idea). It would need a set of weapon mods to go with it too, a bayonet, maybe a rifled barrel (which could greatly increase accuracy and range), a make-shift scope or other sights (maybe borrow those from the pipe weapons, compatibility with See-through Scopes would be cool too), and maybe some kind of modification to convert the gun into a breach loader (which would speed up reload times significantly, but possibly hurt the damage as well, the shot gun animations could be used at that point), the weapon could even use different ammo types once converted to a breach loading gun, it could use buckshot (with a narrow spread and greater range) and slugs. A musket model does exist in the game, they can be seen in the museum in Concord, but the model would have to be edited by someone who knows how, or a new one would have to be built from scratch. As far as the argument of a musket NOT being a very useful weapon is concerned.. Where is your imagination? The Laser Musket was a pretty useless weapon (outside of being a really powerful sniper rifle later in game), until the mod Laser Musket Overhaul came out, now that weapon is actually viable in multiple situations. Pretty much any weapon can be made viable, it just take a little bit of effort and imagination. Anyway those are my thoughts.. I too would like to see the musket brought to life. tartarsauce2
higher damage is good but one shotting makes it a bit worrisome, maybe make it go well as a custom gun with bayonet/weapon bash combat, with a historically inaccurate but balanced gameplay of being accurate about as long as shotguns areI've always found myself prone to emptying a magazine and going in for the stabface routine even if it's technically slower because I'm impatient like that (I'm kind of a berserker what can I say)I can attest to this, being in fights where someone threw a coke can(they only had one) at me and then charged at mebut the thing is, back in the day, the way muskets were really used, that actually makes sense because the balance of things was such that reloading was that much of a waste of time and people would be a lot more practiced with melee fighting (not simply army training but like actually growing up you'd get into more fights and stuff and playing with sticks instead of electronic entertainment)so you could use it as a sort of "alpha strike/sneak and shoot then it's gotime run in and bash everyone" weapon niche, thing is I don't know how weapon bash affects guns, so bash damage might need to be associated with a bayonet, but also the default stock of the gun, just so you could increase it for that gun alonelike, think of how you play with the double barrel shotgun, then just make it even more "in that direction" than that thing is Edited June 12, 2016 by tartarsauce2
