radiumskull
So I want to create NPCs that are Gen1 Synths who wear clothing. Am I gonna have to make an entirely new race? Or is there another way, like making Gen1 body part models into clothing objects? I've noticed that clothing like dresses have human arms built into the geometry, so I'm sure I'll have to do some model hacking.
minngarm
synth skin is a equip, would have to make custom clothing that does not take the same slots, and make sure they have said slots in their race.
EmissaryOfWind
There are flags on clothing that tell what races can wear it, you might want to look into it. Also which clothes Nick can wear, I'm guessing it's only the ones that don't have a body model into them. To avoid having to edit dozens of armor addons, you might want to give them the gen 2 synth race, so they can wear what Nick can.
radiumskull
Thanks guys, I think you got me going on the right path, but of course nothing's that simple. I went and looked at the Race info for SynthGen2Race and SynthGen2RaceValentine, to look at the slots @minngarm means. But if this is the spot where it's defined, it doesn't make sense, because the Hat slot is '30 - Hair Top', and neither of the Gen2 Races has that slot highlighted. So how does Valentine wear his hat? Edited June 11, 2016 by radiumskull
Wunderbot
Disclaimer: I have 0 knowledge about how you'd be able to make this work. Just thought I'd share this mod with you, since looking at its files might help you understand how the Synth bodies and clothing work with each other.http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7035/? radiumskull
Thanks @Wunderbot, I looked through the ESP but I didn't see anything that jumped out at me. Come to think of it, is there any way to load an ESP as the Active File and see what's been changed from the original?
NorthWolf
Thanks @Wunderbot, I looked through the ESP but I didn't see anything that jumped out at me. Come to think of it, is there any way to load an ESP as the Active File and see what's been changed from the original? Using FO4Edit is a good way to see exactly what records an ESP modifies. There might be a way to do so in the Creation Kit but FO4Edit is a good utility to learn and easy enough to use.
radiumskull
Thanks @NorthWolf, I did finally install FO4Edit and take a look. I still can't figure exactly what the secret is, though. Does anyone know of a CK guide for Skyrim clothing? Wondering if that might help.
ImmortalAbsol
I'm looking for a mod that lets gen 1 and Gen 2 wear as much as the engine and apparel system permit.
