Vat58eyGFJg75d Posted October 30, 2011 Share Posted October 30, 2011 I just installed the latest version of Kvatch Rebuilt, along with a few other mods, and now I'm getting a CTD whenever I enter an exterior cell. The only major mods I installed recently were Kvatch Rebuilt, Maddog's Fantasy Mod, and deactivating them didn't help. Vat58eyGFJg75d Posted November 4, 2011 Author Share Posted November 4, 2011 Yes, I checked. I disabled autosave on my Oblivion and have done nothing but do new manual saves whenever I needed to. I've never saved over one of my saves, either. I checked my plugins, and I guess it may be something with Maddog's Fantasy mod, the Unofficial patches, 24HrArenaV2Towers, ReclaimSancreTor, or another mod conflict that did not come up previously. Lanceor Posted November 4, 2011 Share Posted November 4, 2011 I'm not an expert on crashes, but I'll make some suggestions until someone more knowledgeable comes along. You might have to pinpoint what's causing the crash through trial and error. Are you able to go to other interior cells using the coc command without crashing? Did any recently installed mods replace any meshes or textures? Do you still get the crashes when loading a previous save? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MShoap13 Posted November 4, 2011 Share Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) Common causes of similar crashes are a large number of missing meshes (usually from improperly copying a mod's resources), an improperly configured Oblivion.ini (usually regarding distant objects [including but not limited to trees, grass, buildings, fog, etc.]) or simply graphical overload. Check out your \Data\ directory and make sure you don't have another folder named "Data" inside of it. Beyond that, you'd have to go through the archives of your mods and manually compare their content to your \Data\ directory. It's helpful to try and find a culprit mod or mods by deactivating them in chunks, then when the crash goes away add in the mods from the last chunk back in one at a time until you reproduce the issue. The last one added back in is usually the cause. If you've manually altered anything in Oblivion.ini, especially if it was view distance related, try undoing said changes. If you can't track down the issue here, renaming "Oblivion.ini" to "Oblivion.ini.bak" or moving it to a temporary location outside of the \Documents\Games\Oblivion\ directory and then starting Oblivion and loading your game should create a new Oblivion.ini from scratch. This essentially rules out Oblivion.ini as the culprit. Though your current Oblivion.ini may have been altered by any number of your mods to allow them to function properly (UI mods for example). If you can't manually find the problem, but getting a fresh .ini fixes your issue, you may need to reinstall any mods that did alter the old one for them to work. If it's just plain graphical overload you may have to tone down some settings or possibly even get rid of/replace some of your more intensive mods. Edit: Generally, using Game Booster to turn off any unnecessary background process, WEOCPS and Fast Exit 2 can go a long way towards keeping your Oblivion more stable.
