onson Posted November 1, 2011 Share Posted November 1, 2011 One of the things that bugged me about Oblivion was the single "cure all disease" potion and spell. There were various diseases, but simply having a cure disease spell made them pointless. I'd like to see different potion cures for different diseases. Not sure about how the spell to cure disease would work though...........after all it is magic, lol..Maybe different diseases require higher levels of magic skill. Any thoughts? Maigrets Posted November 3, 2011 Share Posted November 3, 2011 I think it would be interesting to have to collect certain items like plants and reagents to make potions or cures, or have to buy specific potions related to a particular disease rather than the cure all spells or potions. Some of these could be expensive as well depending on the disease. I never saw the point of having different diseases with differing effects when one spell or potion fixes all either. For players who don't invest in alchemy or magic they would need to go to a healer who would tell them what to gather, then have the healer make the cure for a price or as part of a quest perhaps, in some special cases. Common diseases would be simple plants or other ingredients which could be eaten directly but be more effective if brewed, whereas rarer diseases would need more potent and harder to find items. It depends on what adverse effects the disease has and the duration I suppose as it would be frustrating to be weakened for long periods because the cure is hard to find. Generally a disease that saps your strength or agility would be an easier cure and easy to find ingredients. A disease that affects personality or state of mind and therefore interaction with NPC's would be one that would require a more complete cure and require searching for rare items. It wouldn't be constantly physically disabling, but would get worse over time affecting the ability to interact with vendors or normal citizens and quest givers. A simple example of this could be a disease that would be inflicted after being bitten by a zombie. After all, who would want to associate with someone who is becoming a rotting zombie themselves if not cured. Higher level undead could curse you with a disability that requires a stronger cure. This isn't a request. Just throwing in ideas I'd like to see as I imagine it wouldn't be particularly easy (if not impossible) to mod something like this without a script extender depending on the game engine and what can be done with it.
