What do I need to include in a BSA?

Hey guys. I've made a mod which adds a faction, actor, and container. Is this information contained in the .esp or the Data folder? If the latter, do I need to pack them into a BSA, and where can I find them?

Thanks! It's probably a stupid question but I've been tearing my hair out over it.

Just an FYI FO4 uses a new format of archive which is .ba2

Did you create any custom non-vanilla meshes, Textures, scripts? if not your mod doesn't need a .ba2.

If your in doubt the Ckit will automatically pack up any files you need for your mod when you try to upload it to Bethesda.net. If you just want to pack the archive without uploading to Bethesda.net you can do that too. You'll find the upload and archive creator under the file menu in the Ckit.

Edit: Also when packing assests into .ba2's you need to name them "MyMod" - Main and "MyMod" - Textures for the game to recognize them.

Nope, no meshes, textures or scripts, so I guess I'm good. Thanks for the help.

One more thing, when I try to get the CK to archive the file for me, it pops up that it wants to pack changes to the WorldMap, even though I didn't even touch it. Should I be worried about that?

can you take a screen of the message box? I'm not really sure what it's asking you.

are you just trying to upload it here or both here and beth?

Edit I only ask that because uploading here you'll need to pack the .esp, read-me and any other needed files into a .rar or .7z then upload to a new mod page. When uploading to Beth it should be automated and send you to a description page then just upload.

OK that looks like a "Dirty Edit" That was made by accident by you or the Ckit. The Ckit, CECK and any of the editors we've gotten over the years have a tendency to create some "Dirty Edits" on there own.

Do you have a copy of FO4edit? You can use it to make sure that only the changes you intended to make are in you .esp. FO4edit can be a little intimidating for people new to modding but it will show you every edit in your .esp not every form in the game like the Ckit does. This makes it much easier to remove unwanted changes and we call doing this "Cleaning" a mod.

Edit: and some people wouldn't worry about the "Dirty Edit" but I would because it could cause conflicts with other mods and it's just best practice to always "Clean" Your mods.

Yeah, I already removed Identical to Master files using FO4Edit, which is why I'm suspicious of this. As you can hopefully see below, FO4Edit doesn't show any changes to the interface (GunnersOverhaul.esp is the mod).

Hmm, how frustrating. Looking through, it seems to only be the objects that I edited. Is it possible that my edits make the game think I've edited the map texture, when nothing's actually changed?
