Crafting

So after the numerous shots of the various crafting, it looks like Beth has taken that up to a whole new level. From what I remember: lumber, mining, smelting, cooking. Do you think it goes as far as using smelted bars and animal skins to make your own armor? In my opinion, armor/weapons will cost one price to buy it outright and less if you supply some of the materials...

Thoughts?

I don't know about the economics of it but I'm pretty sure it otherwise work as you say. There seems to be smelting (was in one of the more recent vids), mining, a skinning station, lumber mills and so on. Of course, how much of it you do yourself and how much is done by NPCs, I'm not sure. If anything, there'll probably be an economics mod that'll adjust prices on full armor purchase vs supplying materials/crafting :P

the only thing we know crafting doesn't do is change the look of upgraded armor .. aside from that anything can be possible .. we know we can make dragon armor from dragon remains .. so its safe to assume we can use leather and other materials to from other creatures for other types of armor .. in the videos released by bethesda it has shown leather working stations .. smelting stations .. hammering stations .. and many more .. creating and upgrading seems to be some pretty fancy stuff .. and its not only armor .. in the menu from one of the PAX videos it shows jewelry as an option .. maybe clothing too? .. this could be a very addictive feature! :D

very addictive feature! :D

But it is a HEALTHY addiction...

Not if you're a dragon and I need a little bit of Dragon bone to make a shiny new armor! ;)

Well, at least I assume that's how you get that stuff..

Or you can just shop on elderBay... I heard you can buy ANYTHING there... dragon bones, daedra spleens, horse armor, the whole kit and kaboodle!

True, but it takes ages for the caravans to arrive and the dragons are so close to me.

*cough* nerds* :)

jk

I just hope the crafting isn't gimped with only a few/crappy options... but after see'ing some more confirmed content, and reading up yet more on this game, I am really impressed with what i have seen content wise and how things have been done... (all except for attributes,,... i swear their could have just redone attributes instead of nuking them)

so yea, maybe a mod to extend crafting will be needed... but something tells me there will be enough in this game for me to feel that from the start, the vanilla game is good on its own.(but i'll still mod it! lol)

I sure hope crafting is up to par. It's a feature I look forward to, sice it's handy AND immersive.

I can't wait to go Minecaft all over the land and forge my own set of epic swords :P
