  1. I am now going to do some minor .ini edits and then it's goodbye to everyone who knows me. I will not be seen again until TES VI :P
  2. This. You can be pretty sure that guy was European and that he is mocking you from the grave :P
  3. Yes, it does that at 34% too, which is where I'm at :P
  4. Decrypting as we speak.. Remember to restart Steam to make sure it does it right! :D
  5. It is released on midnight UK time, which is in 60 seconds. So yes, I am also waiting for the game and I hope Steam won't delay for long :P
  6. Bah, Skyrim unlocks in 12 minutes for me and I bought two 1½ litre bottles of soda, made a good sized bowl of candy and bought some cookies. Also, I have pigs in blankets ready to go at any time I feel properly hungry
  7. I suggest posting it as a bug on the official forums. That said, try making a new character or go back to an earlier save, depending on how far into the game you are. Also, verify file integrety on Steam, as someone already suggested.
  8. Yes, there will be several. You can set up shop in a house you can buy in the various major cities, you can likely murder people in their house and do a "hostile takeover", store stuff in caves or dungeons that don't refill chests and, of course, mod your own place in or download someone who has modded it in. Lots of options for hoarding!
  9. 5 hours and 43 minutes until release here. Just bought a bunch of snacks, so now all I gotta do is watch TV and browse the web to pass the time :P
  10. For those of us who preloaded, the patch was 18 MB. Nine hours to release for me!
  11. You'd be surprised :P But we'll have to wait and see.
  12. I never understood why people would want to speedrun the game on release. That's something you start doing after doing every quest in the game and generally haven't got much left to do. By speedrunning it on release, not only will you essentially ruin all the exploration, you'll miss the story, the character interaction and so on, only to find out that your time is beaten fairly quickly. Why? Well, not only will someone nearly always do it faster by virtue of some shortcut you don't know of yet, you'll also be painfully slow by definition as you don't know a damn thing about the game you try to speedrun. I've done speedruns back in the day and it's god damn hard work to do it right. Doing a speedrun on the first try doesn't just ruin your experience, it's borderline insulting as you've put no effort into it though knowledge of glitches, exploits, useful spells/shouts and so on.
  13. For a game like this, I believe monster respawns are a good idea, since there's no fun in playing in a dead world. Besides, if monsters can move into a dungeon once, they should be perfectly able to do so again :P
  14. I'd hope it will unlock in time. Steam don't have a great history when it comes to this sort of thing, but I think most people's countdown timers are showing the correct times now. Mine still says 11pm tomorrow night, so Im kinda excited to see how that works out :) It can be, as Steam is based on regions, not timezones. For instance, I get the game at 1 am because my region (Europe) is set to GMT (UK time). So midnight in the UK = 1 am here in Denmark.
  15. Agreed. For me, it is much easier to wait the last couple of days if the game is already on my machine. I mean, I'll be spending at least 8 hours of the remaining time sleeping anyway and with a bit of shopping for snacks and watching some TV shows, it'll be like there was no wait whatsoever :D
  16. YES! PRELOADING AT FULL SPEED :D Now, if only someone would break into Valve and hit the "release"-button.. Not that I'm encouraging any potential ninjas out there or anything :ninja:
  17. Well it seems you will be getting to play a good 5 hours before me, so have fun with that.........stupid time zones Are you sure you're not just a little confused? Because...it's been 5 hours since his post. Either way, steam reads 2 days and 0 hours for me. That's because you two are in the UK (or atleast Europe) so you are going to get the unlock 5 hours before us poor Americans who have to sit and read countless "SKYRIM FINALLY UNLOCKED" threads for 5 hours before it unlocks for us :wallbash: That's nothing. I have a friend in Adelaide who will play it NINE HOURS before I do. I will literally have to watch him play on Steam via his status while getting smug messages from roughly 4 pm my time here in Europe, until it unlocks (in my case, 1 am). He's already unbelievably smug by counting hours while all I can do is /sadface and listen to his joy :psyduck:  However, just to be mean, I do believe there's 47 hours to release! Yaaaaaay! :P
  18. Nope, but it's all I can see at the store ;) So until I get to make the character, there will be no posts :P
  19. Nice vid that gives me my daily fix. Now, if only the game would preload already, so I know I'll have it in time for release.
  20. I'm sitting on my ass, waiting for the game to download and be released. Until that happens, I can't post my character pic and can't continue the blog, as it is a journal from my character's perspective. The only thing my character can see at the moment is "This game will unlock in 2 days and 5 hours" :P
  21. Nope, I never saw the point in making the same guy over and over. I always make entirely new characters and it's generally not necessary to remember them because you are, per definition, the Big Damn Hero. Thus when TES VI rolls around in the future, there will be books and such about whatever shenanigans my current characters were up to, just as I'm sure I can read about my characters from Oblivion in Skyrim. Besides, you'd think the Nerevarine and Champion of Cyrodill would have enough to see to, if they were still around, given what has occurred in Morrowind and the Empire respectively.
  22. There probably are, since we have proper lighting this time around (for instance, there is a light spell you can "throw" and attach to walls using a staff - it probably exists as a regular spell as well). Of course, if they're absent, I'm willing to bet there'll be a mod that features them in no time :P
  23. Levelled items are horrible and should be banned from games forever, especially the way Oblivion did it. If they don't intend to let you use the item properly until level 25, simply make the quest and dungeon related to it pop up at level 25 instead. I suspect OP is really talking about tiered items, which is an entirely different thing that Skyrim does indeed use. That is, going from Iron to Daedric and Dragonbone, where a dragonbone sword is significantly better than a steel sword. Skyrim makes use of this and it's a system I often like in games. It makes it useful, yet challenging, to level up and will satisfy the little hoarder locked inside of us all. Having some guys run around in Dragonbone gear while you're running around with Iron and Steel is also a good but subtle way of telling you to bugger off until you're stronger.
  24. Steam doesn't allow to run unpatched games if it detects that there is a patch available (ie. if you activate it and it "sees" the patch you must download it before you can launch the game). Yes it does, just turn off auto-patching or use offline mode. As for patches, they are a good thing. Sometimes people have incredibly thick nostalgia goggles on and forget how regular and/or needed patches were back in the day as well... I mean, just TRY to get Fallout 2 version 1.0 to run properly, lol, and that was a 600 MB game.
