Aluminumfoil
Obviously Skyrim's main quest is about a fighter. A really, really powerful fighter, who fights dragons and saves the world. But just being a fighter doesn't necessarily mean one has to be a killer. After all, there are lots of scary monsters running around Skyrim that one could fight without hurting any people, and one can always try to talk or sneak past human enemies, or disable them nonviolently. Has there been any hint as to whether this sort of thing could be possible? It sometimes bothers me in games when I'm singlehandedly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people (not that that keeps me from enjoying them, ha!). More importantly, playing a nonviolent character offers unique gameplay challenges that can make the game much more tense and exciting - stumbling upon a nest of bandits along the road and fleeing for your life! And it makes those rare occasions when you truly have no choice but to fight back or die heart-stoppingly dramatic, rather than just, "ho hum, another body to add to the pile." In Fallout 3 and to a greater extent Fallout New Vegas, it was definitely possible to play that way, courtesy of there often being dialog options to get through a scene without fighting, or alternate ways through a quest that didn't involve slaughtering everything in sight. Oblivion, not nearly so much. Obviously not all content can or should be available to someone voluntarily limiting themselves so much, but some amount is really quite nice, and it's surprising just how much can be done if you put your mind to it, in FONV. I was just wondering if there was any word on this sort of thing. Will much of Skyrim's content be available to a character who doesn't want to leave a legacy of graves and orphans? Or should I start limiting my character ideas to blood-soaked killer types, who can kill and kill and kill without thinking of a career change? Rydan
It sometimes bothers me in games when I'm singlehandedly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people (not that that keeps me from enjoying them, ha!). I for one hope there are no quests like when in Oblivion you have to infiltrate the Blackwood Company and... ...you end up slaughtering the entire population of Water's Edge
babis8142
I think there will be many more quests that you can solve with speech = no violence. We know you can intimidate, bribe or convince with speech skill. It would make a good addition too.
falloutreign
I would have thought a high level illusion spellcaster could get through most the game without killing anything. (charm/calm/fear/invis) I intend on trying this myself, i'll probably give in and become a mass murderer eventually though xD
malevolentraven
They said that using hand to hand you can dispatch people in a non lethal way, of course there is no skill for this but you get damage bonus for heavy armor gloves if you perk it. So while hand 2 hand isn't going to be the most flexible play style, it does seem to possible. And as has been said Illusion could really help with this. Also maybe use some spells to drain stamina and to burden.
Evilllamas
`I don't want to kill anything` TOUGH SH**!It's set in fantasy land, ergo, there are orcs and dragons, that need CLEAVING ASUNDER! It's a nice idea, but it wouldn't be much fun too play.

justwannaddl
I doubt it. Even if you can avoid killing in quests, you are bound to get attacked by random nameless bandits left and right. Unless you stay invisible or mass paralyze enemies all the time from the get go, you'll probably wind up having quite the body count of criminal scum. Charm probably won't work since all you are doing is setting one enemy against the other though fear may have decent results. I never tried it myself though. The temptation to wear shiny armor screwed up spell effectiveness so that charm spells tended to be useless against a lot of enemies after 25th level. Aluminumfoil
I doubt it. Even if you can avoid killing in quests, you are bound to get attacked by random nameless bandits left and right. Nameless bandits can generally be fled from (especially if you have a sprint mod!) It's certainly more difficult than simply shooting them to bits, but seldom terribly difficult. I managed it pretty well in FONV, and I don't think that Skyrim's bandits are nearly as likely to have automatic weapons :P Illusion is a nice idea for keeping the body count low. dothebedn
I personally dont mind quests that make me kill a lot of people because I pretty much will do that not even on quests. lol. In Skyrim I plan on killing tons of people after leveling up.
