The Tutorial

First post! I'm new so please, be gentle

I've played it through the game as a female Breton assassin. So, now I decided to start anew, an Imperial Male, some kind of pilgrim of sorts, but with Alchemy as a major skill. But before I started, I noticed something during the tutorial that caught my interest.

After playing through the tutorial several times(roleplaying reasons - just so you know :P), trying to get a certain response from Baurus. Now, It might be a glitch, but some of the suggestions he does are quite strange. First of all, how does he know that I'm an Archer despite the fact I don't even have a bow with me, let alone used one? How is that possible, I used alchemy and leveld it 3 times, yet that doesn't seem to count?

What I guess is that some of the choices you make, both while you play and while you talk to Uriel and Baurus, somehow suggests what class you should play when you talk to Baurus before you enter the sewers. Does skills count? What chests I open, what items I pick up, or how I kill the goblins and rats I encounter?

What did he suggest to you, and what did you do to get that result?

Or am I the only one who even thought about this? :O

It is based on how your skills progressed, not the actions you took. Of course, the actions you take govern your skill progression. My advice is to just choose the class you want, or make a custom.

I feel that one can do this one of two ways you can go through the intro once and save at the point just before you leave and then each tiome you make a character you can d start there. You can also go through the intro each time. If you create different types of characters then do the intro dungeon each time.

I feel that you should create you skills and desired attributes before you start the intro dungeon. then pick what ever Pure class you want because in the end you will have the character you want.

Excatly. The reason why it might have picked a certain class is because you also raised something slightly related, like athletics, acrobatics, light armor, security, restoration, destruction, stealth. Or it could even be that your race/birthsign combination has one or more of those skills higher. Since you're essentially forced to use some sort of attack, athletics, acrobatics, some form of armor, and have race/birthsign bonuses, the game will always stick you with something. It's best to just ignore it and pick a custom class since there are a few skills which can't be raised in the tutorial, and most of the class builds kinda suck from a stat standpoint.

Not exactly. While the game will hand you off something, Baurus doesn't always have you pegged. He has a line, something akin to "...from what I've seen of you, I'm sure that you can handle it." to deal with the results that he has no words for.

Also, there is no practical way to raise most magic skills from the beginning of the game, because you only have a restoration and destruction spell.

I just checked. As well as having the same generic line for each class, he has 1 extra line

"There are rats and goblins down there... but from what I've seen of you, I'm guessing you're experienced enough to handle them. Am I right?"

Also, in the "notes" section

"This should never be used, but is in as a failsafe"

Wonder what he says if you have all your stats and skills at maximum :)
