Going Criminal For Skyrim

So, I work at Gamestation, which if you're in the UK is one of the major game-stores.

I was at work earlier today, and as I went up to grab someone a copy of a game, I noticed something in the corner.

Skyrim Collector's Edition.

Only two of them, but the damn things are huge. And the temptation to throw my job out of the window and just charge out of the shop with one of those packages was overwhelming!

Anyone else nearly gone criminal for Skyrim?

Can't you just buy it? Don't employees get discounts or something?

I can't buy it before it's released.

That's illegal.

As would be stealing it. (But yes, we get a discount)

Job -> Game, throwing a job away for a game is silly.

The topic was not meant to be taken seriously, I thought that much was obvious?

I haven't thought about going criminal scum per say.. But I did day dream that someone tried to pickpocket my copy. After I got it they stole it from my hands and jumped on the local transportation bus, I followed them adn beat the living hell out of him, then yelled at the bus driver to "STOP...THIS EFFING...BUS..NOW!!!!!" that way I didn't have to walk farther than I had to to get to my room and play...It was pretty scary...I thought, I would go that far for a game? Than I thought....Dude, it's Skyrim. Edited by Scizz

It's not against any laws to buy and play a game before its release date. It's just against the gaming company's wishes. Big difference.

The reason leaked videos are taken off the internet are because of copyright laws and Beth's desire to keep parts of the game a surprise. It doesn't violate copyright law if you were able to buy the game a few days early and play it in your home. It only violates copyright law if you upload leaks onto the web before the release date.

I'm just saying this because someone said buying it before its release is somehow "illegal." No. It most certainly isn't.

The chickens will report you, watch out! In all seriousness, why not just pre order it, that shouldn't be illegal.

I've already bought the game on Steam. This really is not the point of the thread, which actually just feels pointless now to be fair. Ah well!

Yeah, illegal's probably not the word I was going for.

I'd lose my job over it though, which is...nearly just as bad.
