Violentguy
I really have no clue what race I should play. Or what type of character either. I played a battlemage Breton and a thief-assassin imperial in Oblivion. Clearly I have no idea what I was doing lol. Anyone have any advice or suggestions as to which race I should choose for a battlemage, pure Mage, and a thief-assassin? Maybe even a pure Melee for my fourth character. Idk I'm lost help me please! TheMysteriousTraveler
I'm creating my skyrim charecter after me, so imperial. Or i'll go Nord if imperials look ugleh... Not sure about you though, whatever peeks your interest ;) Edited November 7, 2011 by TheMysteriousTraveler

JimboUK
You should go with whatever takes your fancy, the problem with taking the advice of others is the character isn't then truly yours, make the character your creation and yours alone. Razthemystic
Go with whatever you think looks the best. When you are level 50 the beginning stats won't matter. You will be UBER. So go with what you want to look like.
MrPancakeman
I am also going for something that little looks like me. (no khajits or argonians, no not racistic.)Khajits and argonians are cool, but I just can't play them myself, not sure why. Gonna go for nord or bosmer, depends wich one looks better

NAPALM13092
Making my dude look like me but much bigger and more heroic. Going to play a Nord with facial and physical features as close to mine as possible. Short dark brown hair, Thick angled eye brows (That for whatever reason make me always look pissed off and I get sick of people asking me what I am mad about all the time), Bright blue eyes, Crest shaped scar under left eye and a cross shaped one next to my mouth (Mauled by a rottweiler when I was 8 years old), Mustache into goatee beard circle thingy, Semi pale white skin, Lots of body hair (Not like nasty Austin Powers amount but I'm still a bear of a Frenchman). After that I will make whatever I fancy race wise at the moment. Edited November 7, 2011 by NAPALM13092
Aluminumfoil
For a mage, maximize magicka. Regeneration isn't nearly as important as maximum, because you want to be able to throw down the most powerful spell you can, and if Skyrim works like Oblivion with regards to magic spell creation, you'll be limited by your maximum magicka, even at top level. You can always recoup the loss with stones or potions. For the other classes, I agree with what's been said - just pick whatever you think looks best. Mage is the only one who is strictly limited in potential by a single inflexible number.
AltreU
It sounds like the best thing to do if you aren't sure is to just play the game and do what feels the right.
