I`m broke but will invest 440€ to skyrim (size of my rent), am I nuts?

You guys are insane. There is absolutely NO WAY in hell that a 6 year (dual core) processor will run even on medium. I cannot see how can that even play the witcher 2 on lowest settings fluently on 1080p (maybe on 1280x1024), fluently as in 50-60 FPS. Your graphics card is alright, however you do need to upgrade the processor. No need for a 2500k though, you can find a good AMD like the 1090T or 1075T for a much lower price. As far as RAM goes, 6 gigs of regular 1333mhz memory should do fine. That's quite a ways cheaper for a slightly less performance. As long as you overclock that 460 you should do fine.

lol ok I`m going to take some video footage that shows my system specs, witcher 2 setup and some gameplay, upload it to youtube and post a link on this thread. 1080p and ultra settings without ybersampling, I will even leave SSAO on. If you tell me that it`s running too slow or something after seeing it, I`ll just slap myself around the face and think about if there`s something wrong with my sense of running smooth.

Then I let you know how well my skyrim runs on mine with a amd 5200+ witch I think is about that old. The majority of the performance you get will be out of the video card vs cpu. I normally run 1600 x 1024 and get about 49 to 60 fps on the newer games with all settings maxed -aa. I got 4g of ram but no game will utilize beyond 2g

I think what Spryngo aims for is to have the game running as he sais on 50-60 FPS, wich is where there is no way the FPS will dip below 30 FPS. Explosions and other graphic intensive moments excluded.

Anything above 30 FPS and a average human eye wont notice any difference. Note the word average there.

More on topic. I think witcher2 is depending more on graphic card than CPU. Because you have worse CPU than my old computer but better graphics card.

The computer i used to play witcher2 had a Q6600 quad core 2.4Ghz CPU and GF 9800GT. Managed on abit over low graphics settings and 25-30FPS in witcher2. 8Gb of RAM.

My rekommendation is to try Skyrim first and see how it performs. And if your unhappy with that, upgrade.

You're nuts! No offense but I can see a big difference between 30 and 60 fps, Try modding oblivion and have Qarl texture pack, Better cities, Unique landscape and you will for sure notice the fps drops! When i had a Solo GTX 460 on my system and i went in town, my fps from 60 to 30 became horrible. Everything were in slow mo, especialy if you are used to 60 fps as i am! My friend got a 120 hz monitor, wich means you have your computer caped at 120 and he belives that 60 fps is like 30 fps now that he uses 120 hz.

I think every human can notice this, just that they have to get used to it!

Of course there are parts within the game where the FPS is better than in the other parts where it decreases a bit (action and stuff), but when I`m saying "runs smooth" I mean that there`s really no noticeable and disturbing drops in FPS during the entire game in general and the overall gaming experience is about flawless, if there`s like one or two events during the whole game where FPS drops too much they can be counted as abnormal events and won`t really matter that much.

God it`s slow to upload a big video file into youtube.. will share the link with you guys because especially after klotim`s comment I`m curious to find out what you think about the fps and whether it`s fully playable or not.

Managed to oc my cpu into 2.88ghz from 2.4, my first oc ever.

There! It`s filmed with a camera, and looks like it too.. but in the beginning you can see the computer specs as well as witcher 2 setup, before the gameplay begins.

Don`t mind my playing lol I wasn`t rly trying to do anything.. :D

Ignore Spryngo, because he has no idea just what these old processors are capable of.

I run a Q6600 on this computer, which is actually almost 5 years old, and it runs most games just fine. And, it exceeds in some areas where my other desktop (with a Core i5) fails.

I didn't say it could run ALL games, though, so keep that in mind if you're going to flame me.

So go ahead and keep your money. So how well Skyrim runs before you spend money on something you probably won't need.
