Illuna
ye i was thinking about 2x mars II making it quad SLI, but price of 1500€ peace is way to hight even for dream machine :) and there is also problem of watercooling, i think you cant make mars II watercool atm, but normal GTX 590 (that got same stats) you can, and overclocking on GTX 590 whit watercool will give you same results as mars II but about 2x cheaper. hoofhearted4
ok so my ultimate gaming PC. if you get right down to specifics, im sure you could build a better PC, or get a bigger monitor or something, but if i had the money to spend, this is prolly what i would build. CaseMoboCPU x2RAM x6GPU x4SSDHDDPSU x2MonitorHeatsink x2SoundcardKeyboardMouseSpeakers i know i could prolly do better. i didnt spend hours on this. maybe there is a better sound card, maybe there is a better overall set up. maybe i could get a 7.1 sound system (though i couldnt find any on newegg)...though one thing is if i was really gunna build this, i would prolly go full liquid cooling. but idk what to look for and didnt feel like doing the research just for this list :P could prolly just get one big PSU, but this was easier lol. price comes up to $9059.05 after S&H. which doesnt account for prolly another ~$150 for better high end fan replacement and such...OH and minus a $10 Rebate with the Case!!!! Vecna6667
I'm only going to give you two links: http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/dream_machine_2011_how_we_created_best_pc_ever http://www.maximumpc.com/article/home/dream_machine_2010 These guys feel that there are no real world applications that scale to four gpus and have had 3 gpu setups beat 4 gpu setups in benchmarks before. Illuna
MoboCPU x2RAM x6GPU x4 Hehe i was thinking about hydro copper aswell, 580 hydro copper is great but you need 4x for quad sli, so took 590 due to lower price and cos it will take less space. Ye there is no real world applications for 4 way sli, even 3 way sli would be overshot for any game currently at market. i saw this posts before, tho i dont agree on taking 1 cpu over 2 cpu mobo. and if you take 4 way sli its mostly for future really games come out needing more and more power, i would say in 2-3 years there will be game that can eat 3 way sli. but thats then  Even if you would start thinking more normal prices on ultimate pc, i would say its possible to build one for 5k eur, taking almost all same stuff i mentioned in main post, but take weaker cpu and only 1x 590 or 2x 580CPU would be something like: Xeon E5620 2,4GHz, 12MB, LGA1366 price about 370 eur so you take 2 and 1 gpu, would lower overall price to 5k, also you can save hudge buck on watercooling if you take normal version. so that would cost like 500-600 eur instead of 1800. and in future you can always upgrade your CPU's to 5690 and get 1 more 590 or 2x 580 making your machine good for another few years. hoofhearted4
yea, honestly if i had the money to spend, i would just get an i7-2600k CPU and mobo, maybe 12gb/16gb RAM just for some overkill and then maybe 2 580s or 590s, depending on how much money i had to spend. lol in my list, you can shave of quite a chunk of money just by getting a cheaper keyboard, monitor and speakers lol. prolly save like $500 right there...just for shits and giggles im gunna mess around with a more reasonable dont need to win the lottery ultimate build, one i think i could live with myself if i spent the money on....cause honestly, unless i won like a million bucks, spending 10k on a PC just doesnt sit right with me lol. Illuna
Yep, same issue here, my current pc getting old and need to replace, was thinking adding more gpu's and ram (lol i got like 3-4Gig ram 333Mhz) but now looking at prices maby will get fully new build. But paying 10k for pc is overshot unless you have unlimited money. cos pc for 4-5k will be like 20% weaker than for 10k but you save 5k eur. Now that i think about it if you really wana get good ultimate gaming machine for normal budget, i would say 3-4k is all you need but it will be single monitor, poor keyboard (no g19) poor mouse and stuff but pc will run any game for next 2-3 years easly on best settings. GTX 590 atm is very cheap comparing to power it provides. for same reason almost any build i try to make is SR2 atm cos you can easly get more cores and computing power cheaper and in lets say 1-2 years 5690 xeons will be what 100-200 eur and you can upgrade your pc again  PS: look at prices on SSD's for excample year ago they where nuts expensive and now you can get one for moor or less normal price. and 2TB Normal drive is what 150 eur.... hoofhearted4
most of it is the same, but i think this would be something i would buy. and its tailored to by liking, not just the best in every area. CaseMoboCPURAMGPU x2PSUSDDHDDMonitorH60SpeakersKeyboardMouse as i said, this is something i would build. and not feel guilty about spending soo much money. ending price comes up to $2972.02US (with $40 in rebates lol)..still a very good PC. two 580s will play anything out right now, and the 2600k is the best CPU out for price right now. 8gb of good RAM is plenty..i have a 300gb HDD in my laptop and i havent filled it up yet (granted i have like 24gb left hah) so the 628gb id be getting from the SSD/HDD would be plenty for me for a long time to come. and i have a 1tb external drive here as well if i needed to make room. the monitor is exactly what id want. good size. i dont need one thats basically a TV, and i dont need multiple monitors. cheap speakers cause id be using headphones mostly. no sound card because of that. anything i want sound for, i watch on my PS3/TV anyways. the mouse is the current mouse i have so ya. id be happy with this build, and its relatively cheaper for a strong build too....more expensive then i can afford still lol. even further, is i could save another $100 on RAM, because i already have 8gb of unopened RAM sitting here at my house waiting for when i build a PC....though im thinking about selling it on ebay or something so i can get a little bit better RAM just because. but i really dont wanna sell on ebay, and i cant find any friends who wanna buy some RAM lol so i might not even do it in the end. but ya. Illuna
Hmm i seen that Ram on lots of places, is it really that good ?, will work on SR2 builds ? this sniper ram is dual channel, SR2 takes 12 slots of tri channel so lets say you buy that sniper ram 3x packs of dual channel and make it to 3x per CPU on SR2 will it work ? cant find this damn info on internet, tho i gess its just optimization on speed and it will work on slowest stick style so slowest of ram stick will rule the speed of all others, tho not sure about this. PS: real nice setup, will last long and will work good. and i own very similar mouse on my sekond pc, one of best mouses i ever used tho roccat still takes win for me.
