Monster Respawns? I really and passionately hope not

Does anyone know if Skyrim monsters will constantly respawn?

I found this a bit frustrating and silly in Oblivion. What was the point of having more than one dungeon when monsters would respawn every few days? I could just go back there and constantly clear it out again for 300 hours rather than - oh, have a reason to explore the rest of the map. Totally stupid, IMHO. Of course, for myself, I moved on from dungeon to dungeon but there was no way for me to keep track of which ones I cleared. Thankfully the modding community fixed this by turning respawns (which also meant everything stayed on the map, like dead carcasses, lol), but I know - for whatever reason - some players really like respawns (I cannot imagine why, but who am I to judge as long as it doesn't ruin my gaming experience), so I was wondering how Bethesda dealt with it in Skyrim. Anyone know? Thanks...

I have no clue about it, but respawning is a good think in my opinion if it`s done right. If all the villains respawn after a couple of ingame hours after you leave the dungeon, it`s definitely bad. But what if you clear out a dungeon at the beginning of the game and return to it after finishing the main quest for example, and all you see is corpses of the villains you beated in the beginning? I think it would make the world feel more alive if there were more or less enemies settled in while I was gone. Makes it feel more realistic since when a game world is filled with monsters etc, a dungeon or whatever area should get inhabited by something new after a certain amount of time after it`s been cleared. They said there are an infinite number of dragons, so based on that it would seem that there are. You are the first person I have ever heard of who doesnt like respawns. They've been in every single ES game afaik, so I think you may be out of luck.

Edit: I believe it was said at some that they were using Fallout's leveled creature system, which had things respawning either every 3 or 10 days (can't recall now). That system worked really well for me.

Respawns can only be a good thing. If I go on a major dungeon spree, I don't want to suddenly find myself with no more dungeons to conquer.

Similarly, if there's a dungeon that turns out particularly good, surely you'd want to be able to repeat that?

The point about people repeating the dungeon over and over again instead of exploring is fairly pointless, that's peoples choice if they want to do that and I highly doubt many at all will follow that route. Most of us who play ES play it for the exploration, so sticking with one dungeon wouldn't make sense.

Saying that, a way to track which dungeons you've cleared would be fairly good, but not if it's at the expense of respawns.

so what reason could one have for going else where if a dungeon just respawns? Oh, I duno...perhaps the fact that clearing the same dungeon over and over again might get a little boring?

Other than that, I agree with the others. Respawns aren't necessarily a bad thing.

It's not like the second you leave a dungeon everything respawns. It takes days for things to be repopulated. I'm wondering what you would do when there was nothing left for you to kill? Would you just stand there and do nothing, looking at the scenery? Cause that is what would happen if nothing ever came back.

Well, unlike oblivion, a dungeon will lock to whatever level you enter it at. So if you enter a bandit cave at say level 5, and come back at level 10, the dungeon will still be set to the level 5 difficulty and give lower quality loot.

Each dungeon has a preset level difficulty within a range of like 5 levels so if you entered a level 20-25 dungeon at level 5 it will lock at the easiest difficulty which would be level 20, so it would still be very difficult for you.

No more clearing a dungeon full of rats and coming back later to find a bunch of trolls haha. It makes you feel like your actually getting stronger but can still be challenged by new dungeons.
