Danter
You need to have an item favorited, then bring up the favorite list by clicking Q, from there you can assign hotkeys to your items or spells.
CaptainChaos
I definitely hope there are hotkeys. I totally agree with the above posts that (1) consoles are really dumbing down the experience for PC users (2) it's not a deal breaker by far, but should be easily doable (3) I don't see why we can't have more hot keys than that... Well, I can't wait to see how it all shapes up. I am still giving the big B the benefit of the doubt, but Developers, if you are reading, I hope the game is very PC friendly! superjeno
yep just came on to assure you guys that there ARE hotkeys. put your weapon on favorite then open favorite menu with Q then press the required number... and apparently, if you have that weapon twice and press it, it'll equip it twice, and if u press another weapon or spell it'll swap out one... works well =)
CrazyIvan80
apparently one cannot assign keys to the numpad? Bah. It's what I use to steer/jump/etc as I'm a lefty. so no wasd for me
Valamyr
Yeah, i just got confirmation that the hotkeys do work, but also a confirmation that the UI is absolutely terrible.WASD to navigate, no mouse support :( This is correct, I just made a thread about it on the official boards: I have to rant a little about this, because this is insane. Ive been playing for three hours and though the game looks very fun, everythings going at a snail pace because of the interface and I feel like Im playing on a console :( The worst offenses are: - No more direct hotkeys, everything must go through the console's "Favorite menu" which means I need to pause the game and go into a menu just to switch weapons or spells and that's very much unacceptable in a PC game.- The mouse doesn't work to click on many things, you have to navigate menus with arrows on your keyboard, slowing down gameplay once again to console level. Absolutely no effort has been made to make sure the game could benefit from a computer's superior control. Whilst we can mod in hotkeys in due time, it's entirely possible the menus will never be fixable. Epic fail, Bethesda. :sadvaultboy: TERRIBLE!!! SLOW!!! CLUNKY!!! CLUNKY!!! i've seen multiple PC videos, including a 15 minute one from IGN showing mouse navigation in the menus. you guys are doing something wrong. It's there. hotkeys are there as well, you just have to assign them through the favorites menu. Thats fine with me since the favorites menu is an awesome addition anyway. superjeno
yup, you can click on everything... don't be stupid... and stop bitching about hotkeys, they ARE there...
Valamyr
Okay, I figured out the hotkey assignation even if its really not intuitive. I was however NOT being stupid. This helps a bit, but its still a very clunky interface, and no, you cant 'click on everything'. Menus are very xbox-y and in some, including trading, navigation is done through keyboard solely. Unless my mouse is intermittently broken :P Seriously, this sucks for a game like skyrim and there's nothing wrong with pointing it out. We should expect Bethesda to provide a decent PC interface. This being said, I'm at least partially appeased by the discovery of the hotkets. Though Im curious as to why things must be favorited and then hotkeyed instead of hotkeyed directly in the menu, there are many little weird things like this, but hey, it's a start. Ideally, the hotkey system should allow hotkeying pairs for each hand too, but thats less of an immediate priority. zer0morph
NWN handled this type of handedness with hotkeys just fine...like 10 years ago. You just dropped into the hotkey slot what you wanted for each hand. I just got done uninstalling NWN last night to make room for Skyrim. And yes, Bioware did such a great job with that game!!
