Nairbog
Would definitely be interested to see if anyone can fix the pop-in issue a previous poster was referring to. I'm still downloading my copy but it would be nice to get an ini fix for that, it's a pet peeve. Completely random unrelated question but don't want to start a thread for this: I've tried to limit my exposure to Skyrim as much as possible so maybe this is a dumb question, but are there any environments besides snowy pine forests, tundra, and rocky mountains? I've never been much for cold weather and it might start to feel depressing if it's always gloomy/rainy/snowy and cold in Skyrim. I realize it's the northern area of Cyrodiil so one should expect it, but it would be nice if there was still some Oblivion style lush forest/grassland environments. draxanoth
Very nice find! Thanks a lot for this! It's a lot like New Zealand, it varies depending on how high up you are, and how far north. Anyone have any luck getting the shadows less blocky? I noticed on the Ultra preset it was still setting my shadows to low. I jacked them all the way up but they're still very square... Nairbog
It's a lot like New Zealand, it varies depending on how high up you are, and how far north. New Zealand is absolutely gorgeous. Obviously it's far stormier than most people might think just from watching the LoTR movies, but Skyrim feels far more like Alaska or Greenland than New Zealand imo. anandus
Increasing iShadowMapResolution makes the shadows look a lot nicer, less blocky.Increase in powers of two (1024->2048->4096 etc)

supershine
I tweaked the shadows and they're now ok, but when I get close to shadows and look down, they change to a lot blocky and ugly. And when I look up again, and still see them below, they change back to crisp and clear. Anyone else got this problem? How to fix it? My shadow settings: iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000fShadowDistance=8000.0000iShadowSplitCount=2fShadowLODStartFade=250.0000iShadowMode=3bTreesReceiveShadows=1bDrawLandShadows=1bShadowMaskZPrepass=0iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=6144iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=6144iShadowMapResolution=6144fShadowBiasScale=0.1500iShadowMaskQuarter=4iShadowFilter=3bDrawShadows=1 I've tried to change about all of them individually, but nothing has worked. Most of the time the shadows look ugly, and good only in some spots and angles. Edited November 11, 2011 by supershine
