Problem detecting graphics card

Helloo,

When loading skyrim on my laptop, and go into options, the only graphics adapter that shows up is the Intel HD graphics, I have a better adapter that it doesn't find.

If you look at the picture below you can see that I have two graphics adapters, and skyrim only sees one.

Even when I put the settings on low it's not very playable on the intel HD graphics.

Also, when I play other games I can see the activity of the nvidia adapter on a desktop gadget, and when playing skyrim i see nothing, so i'm pretty sure it's a problem with skyrim.

Also, also, I have just reinstalled all the graphics adapter drivers and they're all up to date :)

Any thoughts on what the problem is, or what i can do to fix it?

Thanks,

Xaike.

Are you plugged into AC? Many laptops default to integrated graphics when running on battery. In lieu of that there should be a setting in your BIOS to adjust that so Skyrim can see it. Even so the GT 520M may only give you medium/ low settings anyway. http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1254956-unofficial-will-my-pc-run-skyrim-thread-53-w-hardware-guide/

Yeah, no luck when plugged in. And I couldn't find any settings in the BIOS either.

I only really wanted it to be playable on my laptop, and with the intel graphics it's basically impossible :P

I have my desktop to play it properly, I just wanted something to do at work tomorrow ^^ and i'm going away for the weekend, so was hoping I could play it on the laptop.

Thanks for the help though, any other suggestions are welcome. :)

It's probably too late in the day for me to describe another approach coherently but I found this which may help!

Hope this works for you.

Was already on high performance mode, I reset the settings there as well, still no luck. :/

Thanks for your help though :)
