kravansh
Ah, I found an alternative: COBL. Unfortunately, that causes the exact same problem with its own menus lol. At least I can uninstall it and still have OOO.
Hickory
So you're saying that the drop lit torch remover will only come into effect after I leave the tutorial dungeon without using an alternative start mod? Because I've got that in both the alternative and regular start, and it persists out in the world afterward. No, OOO initialises it right at the start. A special shortcut 'torch' is added to your inventory right at the start of the game. Ah, I found an alternative: COBL. Unfortunately, that causes the exact same problem with its own menus lol. At least I can uninstall it and still have OOO. This is all very odd, because my Oblivion (when I play it) always consists of OOO and Cobl, amongst many other things, and I have never had this issue. kravansh
That "torch" item appears in my inventory right at the start of the game even with the drop lit torch remover installed and loaded after OOO, and then another one reappears after I drop it. And then another one appears after I drop that one, etc. I end up having this huge pile of torches in my prison cell at the beginning! And as for COBL, you mean you are able to drop the COBL book and key items and they do not reappear in your inventory after doing so? (I have an issue with inventory clutter lol.) And then another one appears after I drop that one, etc. I end up having this huge pile of torches in my prison cell at the beginning! That's because it's not supposed to be dropped. It's designed that way (to respawn), it's a dummy hotkey. And as for COBL, you mean you are able to drop the COBL book and key items and they do not reappear in your inventory after doing so? (I have an issue with inventory clutter lol.) No, that's not what I mean -- you never mentioned the book or key before. I mean I've never had the issue with the DLT icon with both installed. kravansh
I had suspected we were having two different conversations. But my issue was that that dummy hotkey appears there and stays there. Unlike the Unofficial Oblivion and Shivering Isle patch items, a new one appears when you drop it. (The same thing happens with the items COBL adds.) Because I don't use torches or hotkeys, this hotkey torch dummy item is nothing but inventory clutter, and one that constantly respawns! And I never mentioned the book or key before because I JUST started using COBL, so I wasn't familiar with the book and key menu items that it uses. But what I'm saying is that they reappear in my inventory after I drop them, just like the hotkey "torch". (But unlike the hotkey torch, at least they have a use.) But enough of this. I found a solution. The following is for anyone wanting to remove that accursed item who has been having trouble doing so. In order to remove the hotkey "torch" item that constantly respawns, install the Cobl Main.esm and the OOO 1.32-Cobl.esp. (You don't need to bother with the meshes or textures or anything if you don't intend to use Cobl for anything other than this.) Be sure that the OOO 1.32-Cobl.esp loads after the OOO.esp. Start the game and click on the key item labeled +[Options] that Cobl adds. That will bring you to another menu. Look for "Oscuro's Overhaul" and click on that. That will bring up a menu which will include "Torch Hotkey". (You can also use this menu to disable those irritating container animations through the "Harvest Containers" option.) Click on that and the cursed item will go away forever, never to return (unless you start a new game that is). Sometimes there is no "Oscuro's Overhaul" option, and instead you get "OOO Harvest Containers" and "OOO Torch Hotkey" on the main menu. I am not sure why Cobl does this, but it makes no difference. (Just click on the desired thing and fool around with it.) If you want to get rid of those menu items that Cobl gives you, save the game, exit, and deactivate Cobl. I would still recommend keeping Cobl around afterward, in case you decide to begin a new OOO game. Edited September 19, 2013 by kravansh
