THJT9
So I've been planning on making some changes to some of the dds files in fallout 4 for one of my mods, so I downloaded the tools and extracted the ones I needed in order to use them s an example of what I need to make. However while the preview image is fine, whenever I open the files themselves in Photoshop or Compressonator, they have a red layer on top of them that means that any changes I do have this red layer too unless I compeltely rebuild them. Anyone else had this issue and knows how to fix it?
KaelVirum
I haven't run across that issue, personally. I just had an issue with being able to open them in Photoshop to begin with. I don't know if this is one of the tools that you got but I ended up having to get the Intel Texture Works plugin for Photoshop in order to open the dds files. THJT9
I'm using the nvidia plugin myself, but it's not just photoshop as the compressonator programme, which doesnt use photoshop at all, does the same-hence my issue. I will see if I can find the texture works though and see if it works.
KaelVirum
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 and I remember there being some kind of issue with the Nvidia plugin set for Photoshop with that version. That's why I had to get the Intel Texture Works plugin. I don't know, specifically, what the issue was I just know that as I was researching getting started modding I found out that the Nvidia plugin had issues and to use the Intel Texture Works instead. Could be that the issue they were talking about is yours, I have no knowledge of Compressonator sorry.
THJT9
Intel Texture Works imports fine. Something to do with Nvidia's plugin must be the issue-Thanks for the help.

doodlum
I'm guessing it's the ALPHA layer, which dictates what is transparent. Try using Intel Texture Works, or edit dds files in PNG or another image format then save-as DDS
