Graphics Modding

The snow overlay looks like it could benefit from 1) being just plain better (and not, as you say, a 32x32 white slab :P) and 2) having a touch of transparency, i.e. just enough to let the underlying texture be just visible.

However: the transparency I've seen in the game so far has all been either fully transparent or fully opaque: there's no blending. It makes hair and fur and other textures where smooth blending between opaque and transparent would be nice look awful. I don't know if their alpha maps are just lazy or if their shader doesn't support transparency blending, but it's an issue for me, especially after Dragon Age II's fabulous transparency in its hairs.

ok, I need a favor! A screenshot of a scene graph view for BSLightingShaderPropery! Maybe for a few different assets if someone would be so kind. I don't think I'll get this one without a little help.

I've seen plenty of assets that do use alpha blending, I'm sure the game can do it just fine. It's just MUCH speedier to do do testing only whenever they can. Is it just me, or are the hairstyles weaksauce?

Yeah, they suck pretty hard. Hopefully someone will get some hair mods going like in the past for Fallout and whatnot.

The hairstyles do indeed suck really bad. I miss my Advent Children-era Cloud hair from Fallout: New Vegas so damn much.

I really do need help with that screenshot, I'll give instructions this time, and say pretty please! :D I'm working on the assumption that this works the same way it has in the previous titles.

-To be more specific, I could use a snapshot for an Iron Claymore and an Iron Longsword. Do this for each:

-Open the console and select an object, then type SSG.

-This should open a new window, if you're playing fullscreen, alt-tab out of the game.

-You should be presented with a scene graph tree, I'll need you to expand down the tree until you reach the NiTriShape named "IronClaymore01:0. (in the file, it's block number 22)

-Expand/select BSLightingShaderProperty, and the data view should show the data for this block. This is what I need screenshots of.

I would be most appreciative, and the modding community can move forward!

This block is being a little problematic for me, it's vastly different than the Fallout 3 version (I think), and I'm certain that it also combines the data for a NiMaterialProperty too. We'll have to also map out the shader flags, but that doesn't have to happen right away.

tk: I just tried it, and no new window opened :/ I have to get out now, but I can try more things later today if you have more info.

Hm, that's no good.

SFSG (show full scene graph) was the other command listed, maybe that works?

@pussyranger: I can't run the game, otherwise I would be. :)

I can give it a shot too. I'm at work ATM but when I get off I'll try it and let you know what happens.

If it's relevant, I think "ssg" is a command, because the console doesn't give any error messages like it would if I input random nonsense. It must do something, but it doesn't open up a new window.

[EDIT] "sfsg" doesn't open a new window either :/
