What is going on. I can barely go to any towns on low settings without the game dropping 20 frames. What really bothers me is that the framerate cannot stay consistent on any settings. And I wouldn't mind so much if it was a lower amount but twenty? Its really an immersion killer and an overall nuisance... I have tried editing some things in the ini, and some general tricks I learned from my days of fallout and oblivion, but I have found the default.ini has no line to add more threads, and I don't know where busethreadedai=1 would go if anywhere at all..

Also, I have been reading that there is a performance problem with skyrim on AMD components and that a hotfix will be released soon. But I cannot find much info on it and would like to know more.

Thanks guys.. And heres to having more fun in skyrim, when it works..

Without rubbing it in your face too much, my 6 year old pc with a few upgrades can play nicely on high textures so it must be a driver issue which you were getting at. I do get 5-10 second freezes however in the wilderness however people over at the official skyrim forums have also stated this so i think patches in the future should fix it.

& Skyrim doesnt have a 64bit .exe yet right? So you cant use more then 4gb if my geek info is correct? (even though that doesnt matter seeing as you have that anyway)

Thanks for the reply.. I think this is driver related however my friend has literally the same computer that I built for him, and he can play this game fine.

I would look to see what video driver version he has, and try that.

Also, I've seen some posts where people have maxed settings, but AA off, and got improved performance and still a decent rendering (but make sure the video driver control panel is not forcing AA on).
