lgpmichael
I'm seeing a lot of people hating a lot of things, but I havent seen anyone mention this... Ive been in about a dozen tombs/caves/dwemer ruins and Ive noticed in all that time I have only ONCE had a genuine branch in a dungeon. Other than that one time it has been completely linear, go in the door go to the end, no side turns, no forks, just one room leading to a corridor leading to a room and so on and so forth. Occasional small siderooms with some swag in them, but no genuine choice. I have to admit to being MASSIVELY disappointed with that. When they said they had a whole team doing level design, I thought we were in for good things, but wow, those level design people were overpaid. Even if they worked for free. A single path does NOT make a level design. Im hoping Ive just been unlucky, but I have a horrible feeling that this will end up being standard. FoolyFooly
These threads could be so much easier if people just did away with the praddling and said "WHY DOSEN'T SKYRIM CATER TO ME SPECIFICALLY" .
lgpmichael
These threads could be so much easier if people just did away with the praddling and said "WHY DOSEN'T SKYRIM CATER TO ME SPECIFICALLY" . Do you know anyone - anyone at all - who finds it in any way more fun - to go in a straight line. Maybe you should instead start yourown forum where what people want to discuss caters to your needs specifically...
DyingAtheist
These threads could be so much easier if people just did away with the praddling and said "WHY DOSEN'T SKYRIM CATER TO ME SPECIFICALLY" . ^This. Skyrim contains 150 individually crafted dungeons and ruins, compare that to the...7 or so of Oblivion and this time round the level design team more than did their jobs worth. Wertoret
Well I don't find this to be too much of a problem, you seem too obsessed with it IMO the freedom of choice comes from many other things than to have endless mazes as dungeons. antonkr
I hope this isn't all dungeons.Linearity feels like I am playing Call of Duty.
Raiden8
These threads could be so much easier if people just did away with the praddling and said "WHY DOSEN'T SKYRIM CATER TO ME SPECIFICALLY" .why post if your not going to debate the point hes making im finding the dungeons & caves to be more varied than Oblivion - they got monotonous but they did have whats he's complaining about here Edited November 12, 2011 by Raiden8
PrinceNathan
The dungeons are so gorgeous that I didn't even notice and to be honest, looking at my map every five seconds to make sure I haven't missed anything was a pain. There are lots of things you will missing by assuming the dungeon is just a straight line. Also I found a keep that had multiple entrances, it seems that the first few dungeons are simply trying to show you things in-game rather than an outright tutorial. For example in the Bleak Falls dungeon there were obvious trap, triggers and oil puddles that were very hard to miss, later on in a different cave I stepped into a few traps I didn't notice. Gishank
I've seen quite a few dungeons, yes, some of them are linear but I don't have an issue with that as they're well designed and well thought.
elvinkun
Duengeons seem to be fine, they actually have atmosphere and are different from each other...as much as cave differs from another cave in the same region in real world. But that part of the game sure is better compared to Oblivion, it felt like there were only three dungeons.
