deathcrow89
So first off let me say that im still new to modding i started out in fallout 4 with my workshop settlement mod. anyways now im trying to build a companion with quests and long dialogue for a story and possibly adding a large quest chain. i have the basic options for my companion but idk how to procede to add more dialogue and quests. also ive tried adding voice over the voice is there but no lip file generated even with adding the phonix file to the data sound folder. any and all help to put me in the right direction or anything would be greatly appreciated. thank in advance
deathcrow89
Ok so I figured out how to add my dialogue. There are some things like triggering dialogue at certain locations or times that I haven't a clue about. still having some issues with the lip files generating and the wav files I record don't show up. To explain what I did I watched a video on youtube Seddon4494 is the channel. He has tons of GECK and creation kit videos from fallout to skyrim. one of them helped he has a lot so I cant remember which one. but it sent me on the right path. Also, I'm having some trouble figuring out how to set up dialogue with a companion before the companion wheel opens but I can only do it after. not sure how to fix this. madmongo
The lip generator is broken in the GECK as it ships. I posted details in this thread:https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3009379-good-geck-lip-syncing-tutorial/ As for your wav files not showing up at all, you probably have the files in the wrong place or have them named incorrectly. The name that the GECK is expecting will be a long string of characters that shows up near the bottom of the form when you edit the dialog. Sometimes it helps to record a second or so of blank audio just so that you can see exactly where in the directory structure that the GECK is expecting the file. Then just replace the bogus 1 second file with your real audio file. If an NPC is a companion (in other words they are set as a player teammate), then the command wheel will always show up before dialog. You can have someone follow you but not be a teammate, in which case they won't have a command wheel, but you also won't be able to access their inventory (the OpenTeammateContainer function only works on teammates). I mean I record using the geck with the record option and sometimes it doesn't show up. idk if I mention it but I did figure out a way around the command wheel I still have to open it but I have removed the options for changing tactics and such from the dialogue. still opens the command wheel. Thou I still do want to know how to get dialogue/ quests to trigger at certain locations or times.
