Voivode1456
Greetings, I am install OBSE 0020 and I have the loader & the dll files in the correct folder. My issue relates to using the Command Prompt to link the TESConstructionSet to launch with the obse_loader. My skills at nagivating the Command Prompt are limited, as I have not had to do it in over 20 years. I have made it to the correct folder (D:\Game Folder\Oblivion on my system) and I typed the "obse_loader -editor" as instructed in the OBSE Readme, but got "is not a recognized internal or external command." Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks,William
Keirgarth
In the command prompt you need to navigate to where you have installed the OBSE. From that directory then you can type in obse_loader.exe -editor to see if it works. Your other option would be to set up a system variable defining the obse path as part of the system path. This way no matter what directory you were in you would be able to type the command. To be honest though, there might be side effects to doing it this way so caution is key here :) A second option would be to create a text file in the oblivion folder, rename it to something like obse_editor.bat, and put the command in that bat file. Then if you need to have one, you can create a shortcut to that on your desktop that you can click to start the editor with the bat file which would be using OBSE. Voivode1456
Thank You Keirgarth! I figured out my problem. I renamed the OBSE Loader to reflect the version I was using (so I would not forget), so I was giving it a command to look for a file that no longer existed. Do you by chance know if I need to use the command prompt each time or does what I just did reset the TESConstructionSet to load with OBSE permanently now? Sorry to be such a novice. My computer skills are a bit dated at times. Thanks again for your help!
Keirgarth
From my understanding you need to launch the construction set with the obse_loader each time if you need to use the extended commands that are available with it. If you are not working on something that requires the newer commands you may be ok just launching the CS normally. I would imagine that it would normally come into play if you are doing scripting or something of that nature.
Voivode1456
Thank you again! That actually makes sense. I am just getting into scripting and the error I have been receiving is the result of my not utilizing this method. Somehow I failed to read that part when I installed the previous version of OBSE. I appreciate your help and I look forward to encountering you again in the future here on the Nexus. Have a great day!
HeyYou
Just change the Target of the shortcut for the cs to point at obse_loader.exe -editor. Then you just double click on the shortcut, and obse launches the editor. If you are getting into scripting, I also HIGHLY recommend construction set extender. Gives a MUCH better script editor than the stock one. CSE is available for download right here on Nexus.
