samroski
I probably have around 300 mods installed- and it appears that the system has reached a limit. Any additional mods and the game fails to load. Unselecting ANY one mod will make it work. So is there a limit?

samroski
I have about 50 more recently downloaded mods that I want to install. Cannot afford to uninstall any more mods. Am pretty depressed.
OneoftheLost
Guess its time for you to learn of the greatness that is Wyrebash. Or Gecko. I'm pretty certian both these tools can combine lesser mods. (Like armor and weapon mods) If they both arn't in the same place. Same for house mods and such. Overhauls and the like it doesn't mess with, thats what mods like FCOM are for.
Lord Slyther
I currently have about 65 mods, and I don't think I capped the limit yet.
ninja_lord666
Wait, wait, wait, wait...you have about 300 mods, and you can't get rid of any? I'm sure that isn't true. To have that many mods without any sort of critical conflictions, you must have dozens of weapon and armour mods, quest mods, and house mods. There aren't enough gameplay changes mods for that. You know, your character can only wear one suit of armour and wield one weapon at a time. Now, you could hot key several different weapons for different circumstances, like maybe you have your assassination weapon, your ranged weapon, your usual melee weapon, and maybe specialty weapons for dealing with different enemies, like an undead-slayer weapon, etc. However, there are definately not going to be 300 weapons you have hot keyed, so my advice is to thin out those weapon and armour mods. You don't need 30 suits of armour you never wearor 70 weapons you never use.I'm sure those quests you have installed are just capital, however, most of the quest mods I've run into have no real reward for completion, and most of the rest that did have rewards were weapons and armour. Like I said earlier, you don't need all those weapons and armour, and as for the no reward quests, if there is no reward, then the only thing that'll change by removing it is getting rid of some journal entries which I'll bet you never read once the quest is complete. That means, that you can uninstall those mods. You really only need one house. You can install one house mod to be your main house, because the vanilla houses suck. Then, you just use those vanilla houses for sleeping when you're in town. You may not like them, but you're only going to be in them for about five minutes while you sleep, so there's no problem. If you really need all those other house mods to display your stuff, then you have too much clutter (most of it is probably those weapons and armour you never use). There, if you just follow this simple rule: remove the mods you don't actually need, you'll be down to a "better" number in no time. Edit: Yes! Post number 1000! Let's celebrate!
Jumper46773
I probably have around 100 installed about 50 active and it slows it down some but it doen't stop it, however it will freeze and stop like that if you have corrupt mod that's happened to me before. It took me forever to find which one. With that many... you have a big job ahead of you    :whistling:

To have that many mods without any sort of critical conflictions, you must have dozens of weapon and armour mods, quest mods, and house mods. There aren't enough gameplay changes mods for that. I understand the reasoning behind your advise- but the way I play the game (with my current character, level 34) I install the mod and forget about it till I stumble across it in the game. This probably happens frequently- but I am never entirely sure. Thus I have no clue about more than half of the 300 .esp files in the data folder, which have been added over the last year. I have already gotten rid of any unnecessary buildings (including TES Nexus Inn), though I need multiple houses to accommodate the my 30+ companions. I'll certainly apply your advise on the quests, weapons and armour mods- try and get rid of them (or combine), if I can identify the files. I need to keep the system going for a few more months till I am finished with this character- and at the same time check out as many more mods as possible, before I reinstall oblivion and start a new character, with hopefully around 100 selected mods. ninja_lord666
...to accommodate the my 30+ companions. You don't need 30+ companions, especially if you're getting houses for them. That means they aren't traveling with you, just sitting there, doing nothing, wasting at least two mods. Probably more, since I'll bet you give them all modded equipment, too.
