All,

I started to have this problem again, and couldn't nail it down. Then I started to VERY CAREFULLY check my add-on list, and went around the game making sure that they were all actually working (and not just listing as loading). Believe it or not, the Leather from Mammoth Skins seems to be the culprit. I would kill a mammoth but not be able to take its hide anymore (it had been working in the past).

Uninstalled it, CTD stopped.

So, really watch those mods and how they play together, especially if it's a mod where the effects are rarely used (ie skinning a mammoth).

Good luck!

just recently tried to play skyrim again after quite a few months and for some reason now none of my saves work :-(

Only thing different from when i last played is that now my OS is on a ssd, skyrim itself is still on my secondary drive (normal hdd). Made sure to check that my backups are all the same as what is there now so it *should* be exactly the same as it was before. Yet whenever I try to load any save game at all it goes to the loading screen for half a second and then crashes to the desktop. Turned on the logging to see if there was any obvious error and im not even getting any log files being created, idk if its crashing before it even gets that far or what.

the latest few save games are from 10-22-2013, and when i look in NMM it shows last installed mod date is 10-05-2013 so it was definitely working for a few weeks since any mod changes (and i recall it working fine last time I played).

tried resetting the ini files to defaults, disabling enb and skse... but no change.. I tried every save game I have (about 15-20 saves) from all different dates.

tried starting a new game and saving it as soon as it lets you, then loading that save. It works, sorta... I can get ingame with a save from a new game but when I do the mouse and keyboard wont do anything ingame except the esc key works and the mouse then works on the menu only. confused lol.

...and annoyed lol

spent quite a bit of time back then getting rid of the random crashes (which became fairly rare and the game was playable and enjoyable without crashing all the time).. now I cant even get the exact same setup to load my old saves, and it acts wierd when loading a new save (tho to be honest I dont want to bother playing, even if starting a new game was working right, if i cant play any of my old saves of like 300hrs playtime.. theres no way i can convince myself to start over lol)

well this is a bit on the odd side...

i copied my complete skyrim setup to another pc and the saves load on it.... so I re-saved my latest save game and copied that new save back to my main computer and now that save loads fine on this pc (while all the old saves still cause a ctd)..

makes no sense to me why the old saves load fine on another computer and re-saving them makes them work on this one
