Hide Undiscovered Locations on Compass

I've been tweaking my Skyrim the way I like it for a couple of hours, hiding the markers and what not.

I went into the ini and removed the floating markers and the compass because I didn't want to be hand-held everywhere and see undiscovered locations. They always pull me in like magnets and sidetrack me for hours and I end up playing like an OCD player.

I want to play more organically with Skyrim and explore and discover places by accidentally stumbling upon them.

However, I do want the compass for the directional aspect and even enemy surrounding awareness and I don't care if discovered locations are on it.

I figured one solution to this would be to extract the interface.dds (if there is one) with all the HUD icons and make the undiscovered location icons 100% transparent in photoshop.

I would think this would be an easy thing to do (theoretically; it was done countless times on the GameByro engine without modding kit) but I do not have a BSA extractor and I don't have the photoshop skills to deal with alpha channels.

For now, I'm just making do without the compass instead.

Could you post what you changed in your ini file? I am new to this and I am a bit lost on what to do. Still searching through Google results, but if you or someone else could get back before I find the answer that would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT: So after checking a few more pages down, I found the ini line to add.

[interface]

bShowCompass=0

I did not find an [interface] header in my ini file so I simply created one.
