Armamentarium Summa Diversitas

A mod for increased visual and gameplay variety regarding weapons and armors!

Because sometimes, it's fun to not be a Viking.

Well, after putting some 7 hours yesterday into Skyrim I can say I am relieved regarding the design choices Beth has done, the world feels a lot more alive this time around and the weapons and armor alternatives are more thought through. Still, variety is always nice and I thought it would be nice if we could gather like minded people who want to make weapons and armor mods and release them as a modular pack.

There were a lot of great armor and weapon mods for Oblivion but combining them all could be a hassle, and the stats were not always in line et cetera. That's where my idea comes in, where we could release packs, which are configured as master files for the core objects, which in turn would allow other mods, say monster variety mods to use our work without having to include a thousand small esps or alternatively fully incorporate the weapons and armors in their mod.

About me, I'm a 25yr old guy from Finland, I have a bachelors degree in game design (graphics), and I am fairly proficient in modeling and texturing. I have made mods for Morrowind (none released), Oblivion (beta released? maybe), Fallout 3 (none released), and Fallout New Vegas (one released). As you can see, that's a lot of unreleased work!

So now I invite you all fellow modders to join me to actually make a good mod that gets released! I know there are many out there who like me never finish up their projects, or alternatively only make individual pieces of armour or weapons and release them separately. Now I offer a chance to be part of team and have a common goal!

Here is a picture of an armour I made for Oblivion that I have polished some to bring it up to 2011. Ignore the helmets, they have been updated since...

This picture show what I am shooting for: Non fantastical, baseline armour that is inspired both by game lore and real history! But this mod will also encompass more fantastic stuff too!

Ofcourse, if this is going to be a team effort, I must and will allow all sorts of inspiration and work! My only criteria is that it upholds some minimum standard of quality (don't worry, I will help aspiring modders and I am confident others will too) and is not too outlandish in it's concept (ie, no anime gunsword hot nurse lightsaber halo masterchief armour)

No I have run out of time, feedback is welcome and ideas, I will be back later with more ideas and text!

Hi all! The mod aint dead

I've been busy playing the game and I have consciously made a decision not to mod the game right away, but now that the CK is out I figured it was time to get to work. I plan to structure my mod as incremental updates of one large file as opposed to separate packs. The major updates will be focused around certain themes. First out is the armors and arms of Cyrodil, which I will be basing upon late medieval Italian arms and armor. I would ideally be like to add these to the game world in some natural fashion besides adding them to loot lists, for example a company of mercenaries who might be camped out near the south border, perhaps arriving in Skyrim to hunt some dragons, from whom you could buy arms and armor. This would require voice acting for atleast one NPC, so if someone can do a good greasy arms dealer voice, shoot me a PM.

Here is a warhammer that will be included, still WIP but illustrates a rather simply yet elegant martial design. Will be included as one handed and two handed polehammer.

Here are the packs I am planning to do, in approximate order:

A) Armories of Cyrodil

Italian-styled arms and armor for the more fashionable Imperial Dovakhins, or anyone who enjoys stylish and functional armor and weapons. Focus on heavy armor like the above shown, also planned are brigandines and less heavily armored archer outfits with only breastplate.

B) Polearm & One handed warhammer pack

Basically from vanilla models and resources I will make pole arms and one handed warhammers, since I feel these are sorely missing. Will be made like this: one handed axe + longer handle = poleaxe, or two handed warhammer + shorter shaft + smaller hammerhead = one handed warhammer. Should be rather easy. Also plan on making an optional pack where the two handed battleaxes and warhammers are slightly toned down to a believable size.

C) Orcish Legions

A pack of more functional (crude) orcish arms and armor, think the Uruk-Hai meets the Roman Legion. Should be a fun design challenge!

D) Armouries of Hammerfell

Some eastern influenced heavy armor, and maybe a catapracht horse armor to match. Might include some other influences as well.

Ultimately I would like to do all major provinces but realistically that will probably not happen unless I get help or get caught in a time-warp where I have unlimited modeling time :teehee: So if this idea interests you in the least and you have skills of modding or want to get them, post or shoot me a PM.

Nice work  I'm also working on making some plate armour for Skyrim, although it has been four years since I've done any modding or 3D ( Made some weapons for Fallout 3 ). I'm basing the armour on mid 1500 Gothic plate. Currently, I've finished the sallet and just started the cuirass: http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e214/marvelshocker/GothicplateWIP.jpg (Ignore the seam on the cuirass. it will be gone upon completion.) Unfortunately, I don't have much free time these days due to studying, so there is no guarantee I'll get to putting it in the game but hopefully I can finish it. Edited by The SH0CKER
