TheHyruler
Hello pepz of the almighty internet. So we all know the Creation Kit is not perfect... Or good... But I'm having some issues that just dosn't make any sense. The CK crashes all the time and it crashes for the weirdest reasons, though it seems to somehow be consistent, or so I thought... The CK crashes when I tried to go to a Commonwealth cell which I had edited a little to make a few more changes. Meaning of course that I had the ability to go there before and I have gone back and forth to that cell plenty of times before however out of nowhere I started to crash whenever I tried to even load that cell... If I went to a nearby cell and manually navigated my way over to the edited cell the CK would crash upon trying to load it. It also crashes upon closing the CK (Not that that's really that big of an issue... I mean I was closing it anyway), bit the hair the broke the camel's back for me is that first it destroys my chances for even participating in the Fallout 4 contest but now it also crashes when I try to make a mod that contains content from DLC's... So now that you know of my struggle (The struggle T_T) my actual question here is, are there any programs that are required for the CK to work properly? My friend tried to open my mod and he could do everything I couldn't and he also says he have never even experienced the CK crashing. I have updated my driver, checked if I'm using the most up to date version of the CK, updated Java, updated Flash and googled for answers for what is probably turning into hours now...Any help is appreciated, cheers. BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
As far as I know, the Creation and Fallout 4 comes with everything they need (sans Blender, 3ds, nifscope, and the like, of course)...but maybe someone can verify. I, surely, didn't need anything else 'outta the box' to get up and running. I will ask a question and make a recommendation, though.Have you verified the Creation Kit files? If not, In the Bethesda Launcher there is an options button which, when clicked, gives you the choice to verify files. Couldn't hurt. Edit: By the by, the "crash on exit" is a "known issue" on this build. The above recommendation is more for the crash on custom cell, etc.
RaffTheSweetling
When you guys say "on this build", can I ask, do you mean you've updated your CK?I installed my CK the day it was released, and never did anything to it since. So if it automatically updates, cool, then my version is up-to-date, but if it has to be reinstalled from scratch, and re-downloaded, in order to keep it up-to-date, then I'm using the original version still.Added to that is the fact that I've never had a single crash upon exiting, which is why I'm confused by the statement "the "crash on exit" is a "known issue" on this build", and In general I only had 2-3 crashes while using the CK in 2 months, and all were related to resource-hogging. For instance, I was running Youtube today and my sound driver + the CK crashed my entire computer, and 2 other times the "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" while using the CK, and the render window wouldn't let me view the cell anymore, then the CK crashed when I tried reloaded that cell.Other than that, I'm afraid don't have answers that could help TheHyruler.I think it comes down to the CK being so demanding of resources maybe. Think it would help to make it a higher priority than? Regardless thanks both of you for at least giving it a shot. Hopefully Bethesda is actually working on getting this pile of junk code made into an actual game engine, I still can't belive when I found a note in the Creation Kit code that literally said ''Don't know why this works''. Deleted4363562User
In addition to crashing on close, I also crash when reloading an esp. Basically, I can only load an esp or set of esps and esms once, after the first initial start up.

Nope, it doesn't automatically update, you have to run the Bethesda.Net launcher in order to get it to update.
BabaManda
All those crashes are reported at bethesda net forum. I mean, at least there is big thread there about it, ppl are pissed.I have same issues. Crashing on exit, crashing when adding another active file, crashing when going to bathroom ) It all started when they added PS4 support. I hope they are reading those complains and working on it. I tried everything, from reinstalling CK to reinstalling Visual c++ 2015. My rig is i5 3570k, 16GB, gtx 1080. Nothing OCed, very stable rig. So the rig is not the problem. They messed up CK somehow, all we can is wait another update.
RaffTheSweetling
Well in that case I think I'm better off having not updated. I like my CK crash-free. :) Are there any actual advantages to having kept it up-to-date? I mostly do cell-design and other aesthetics-oriented work, and nothing too complex like scripting or quest-creation, so I don't know what aspects weren't working which might now have been improved. Trosski
If you make edits to external cells that remove object, then updating will allow you to fix the cell reset, and sprinting bugs.
Trosski
I found a fix for the CK crashing on Beth.net. It may not fix all crash related problems, but it fixed all of mine. If you have a Touchscreen, then you need to go into Windows' Device Manager and disable the touchscreen there. I did that, and now my CK is more stable than any previous CK I have ever used.
